OK, so a big reason we went with the HTT was because we loved the awesome breeze and the very open feeling the tent ends gave with the 3 large windows. Typically you'll find us at a "woodsy" state or provincial campground and our HTT will have the tent windows at least halfway down. We've only used the AC a handful of times, but then again, here in the great lakes region we aren't subject to the heat places like Arizona or California experience regularly.

Blah, blah, blah... on to the questions... doesn't putting reflectix in the windows of the tent ends limit or end that open feeling. Do you only put the reflectix in on certain occasions?

When we had our HTT, we kept the reflectix in all the time, even folded in. When we wanted that "breezy, open feeling", we just unzipped the windows and pulled the inserts out and stored them under the mattress.

I only use my reflectix, and popupgizmos during weather extremes. Usually, only when it's really cold out, or really hot out. Most of the time, I enjoy the tent ends for the same reason you do...for the open, airy feeling you get with the window flaps open. Even during really hot weather, I will run the AC during the day, with the reflectix in the windows, and then at night, take it out, and open up.

I'm with AAeater...
I always use the space blankets regardless of weather, I put the reflectix under the mattress or behind the bathroom when we don't need em. We did Hybrid for the same reason.

Like Car Guy our space blankets go on all the time. They do a great job of keeping the tops clean. Our reflectix panels are used only when needed to help with heating or cooling, otherwise they are stored behind the couch in the slide.

I use the PUGs always. My tent ends look almost new due to the lack of UV and dirt on them.

I use the reflectix 99% of the time. It does a great job to maintain or deflect the hear but also keeps unwanted light out late at night or when Mr. Sunshine is kicking up at 0530!

Ditto that. If the A/C is running the reflectix is in. If it's cool enough that I don't have to run the air then we unzip everything and let the breeze in, which is wonderful and one of the reasons we love our HTT. Obviously, if we're camping in late October or November I put them in at night if the temps get down too low but will slide them out during the day and let the breeze in. They store easily underneath the mattress.

By the way, we always put the Pop Up Gizmos on. One of the things I like best is how dark it makes the bunk ends as we enjoy sleeping in a bit. I should add that combined with the reflectix inserts not only are our bunk ends nice and dark but it helps with the noise.

I think they make a huge difference in extreme weather conditions. It was well worth the time and effort of making them.

I'm confused(nothing new, happens alot!) I have the PopUp Gizmo's for both ends but what is reflectix? and where are you using it? From the topics it sounds like something for the windows instead of on the bunk tops, but maybe I'm misunderstanding? Thanks to anyone who can straighten me out on this!

Reflectix is a generic name for a reflective/insulating material used in HVAC applications. More recognizable is it's use as a windshield sun shade. It is flexible, cuts easy and a cheap method of retaining heat in the winter/refracting cold and vice versa in the summer. Keeps light out of the bunk ends as well.

Thanks Robocop(and fellow Marylander I see). Looks like a worthwhile purchase.
