I drove my toad to town yesterday and got rear ended and pushed into the car in front of me. I wasnt hurt but it ruined my tow hitch in the rear and my tow bar on the front of my jeep. I have liked the car mounted hitch, just drop it over the ball and go, but now I am thinking of a heavier type and they all seem to be MH mounted. Is the hookup as simple with the MH mounted any benefits?
Thanks Eric

Have had both and IMHO, the RV mounted AT model is much easier to hook up or release, if the terrain is uneven. Also I had a problem with one of our toads not staying in alignment and after a set of tires and many alignments, the tire store said to remove the tow bar as it was to much unsprung weight in front of the axle, and they were right, no more alignment problems or tire problems. I would never have another bumper mounted tow bar.

I agree, MH mounted tow bar is, in my opnion much easier to hookup and unhook than a car mounted tow bar. No shin banger hanging off the front of the jeep either.

Humm sounds so far like you MH mounted guys are the majority right now. I can't see it being much easier mine is very simple, my other problem is my coach will just fit in my enclosed garage and shut the doors. I will probably have the take the tow bar off the coach every time to be able to shut them. Thanks for your input, the insurance will be replacing my bar so a good time to make a change if needed.

Since the hitch is mounted in place of the ball, it sticks out just about the same distance as a standard carrier and ball does, so this will probably not be an issue.

This is what Ours looks like folded up on back of MH.
*This is a picture from Blue Ox. We have the same bar and looks the same folded up.*

Get one that detatches from the toad and stays mounted to the MH. No sense in having the thing sticking out when you are cruising the toad.
We have a Blue Ox Alladin for our Jeep. It's a good product and very easy to hook up.
