What is the purpose of the optional tow bar bag cover?
When you are towing it's completely exposed, so when you park and take the toad out for a spin, why does it all of a sudden need to be covered?
Am I missing something this bag is supposed to protect or is it just my RV dealership trying to get me to buy yet more from his store?!
and
How many of you tow a toad with out a back up camera?
tks

We don't have one. I forget what they wanted for one when we bought the Blue Ox Aventa II. I barely had enough to pay for the base plate and tow bar. I figure that would just be something else to leave laying at a site or to 'take legs and walk off'.

My tow bar spend far more time stationary than in service. I keep it covered (afer a quick cleaning and lubrication.) I also live in the land of snow and ice.
As far as a backup camera, if I didn't have one, I wouldn't know if the toad was still there . I can't see the toad with the mirrors so I wouldn't do it without.

My tow bar (and RV) usually get FAR filthier when parked than on the road. If you're the anal clean type (like me), you wouldn't think of leaving the bar back there without a cover. If you don't care, then save the money and don't get a cover.
As far as the camera. I wouldn't dream of towing without it. I can't see the TOAD in the mirrors at all. It's not just a matter of "Knowing it's back there" (which is comforting) but is your friend when turning especially in tight places like gas stations, etc.

The electrical hookup, safety cables, air line for the toad brakes, and breakaway switch cable all run through channels in our towbar. When the toad is unhooked it's easier to contain everything by slipping a cover over it than take each piece off and store it in a compartment. Also you don't have to worry about loosing or running over something if you drive the coach without the toad.

Regarding the camera . . not only can you see your Toad but you can also monitor the safety cables, breakaway cable, and the towbar itself to make sure things are riding well and not coming apart.
