Ihave not stayed in a Wal mart and probably will never do it. I have the same feeling of insecurity that you have. I probably would not rest or sleep, so whats to gain. And one other thing if you have to run your gen set for 8 hours to stay cool so you can try to sleep, who pays for the fuel that the gen set burns? 1/2gallon per hour would be 4 gallons at $4.50 a gallon would be $18.00. So there goes the FREE site. I have the same feeling of insecurity that you have.

Okay, so how can you have the "same feeling of insecurity" as the poster asking the question if you have never stayed at one and have no experience regarding the matter? Maybe you have insecurity issues just by pulling in a Walmart parking lot to run in and pick up a few things. That would mean that you have bigger issues than overnighting. You just might pull in that Walmart and sleep like a baby. Give it a try first, then explain your feelings. Just a thought after your post popped out at me. That is like me telling someone that I hate sushi when I've never tried it. I don't know if I like it or not. It just doesn't sound good to me. Again....

While I respect the units you buy, I could not afford one and decided to purchase and make my own trailer out of a 6X10 (see avatar). I don't use Ac and stay right out in the sun. I just leave the doors open with screens and have not ever been over heated. Is it possible the insulation is trapping the heat in your units? I hate the most, pop ups as I was in one that was directly out in the sun at a dealer and then went home to my trailer and it was hot until I opened up the top vent and doors. I sleep in the hottest days in it at most I have a 02 Cool Fan.

it is not just the heat that I can't take, the humidity makes life miserable for me. do you have/use AC in your home?

there are lots of campgrounds with electricity in the 15-20$ area if you have PA. what does it cost to run a gen set for a bunch of hours at $4.50 gasoline?

What no a/c at walmart????????????

Everytime I stop, they give me an extension cord that I hook up. Where you walldockers stopping?

On edit, after posting this , I just KNOW someone will ask me , so here goes.

I pull in around 5pm, park at the auto service center, go in and tell them I need 10 new tires installed. Of course I know they quit work at 5PM. The mgr will say "come back at 8am" and I say "cant, got bad tires now ". I then ask if I can spend the night there waiting for the mechanics to come in. "Sure" he says (or believe me some are women) and then I say "Well can I run my extenstion cord in here for the night?" and he/she says "sure we can do that".

I leave at 500 am ......bad boy.......... gosh forgive me.......

Normally, I wouldn't reply to a message like this, but I've been thinking about this post for a little while and it bugs me.

I think too many people are doing whatever it takes to get something for free. I don't agree with lying about making a major purchase (10 tires) just so you can plug in for the night. Yes, I know it won't make an economic difference to Sears or to the employee, but it's not the ethical thing to do, and I wouldn't want it done to me.

Camp in the parking lot -- fine, I do it myself at times. Buy something from the store -- even better. But "stealing" electricity? Come on.

Either buy a generator if you need AC, or stay in an RV park.

Just my humble opinion.

If you consider this to be "grumpy", you need to get a life.
but that's JMHO.

Now the post that I thought about originally would have in fact been "grumpy". I refrained from posting it but since you asked, I was originally going to say that "the day I get so cheap I'm going to sit around in a tin box sweltering in the heat and humidity will be the day I shoot myself.
Now that qualifies as being grumpy.

Once again a Walmart post full of people wanting to be irritating or to reply to irritating people.
To answer the orginal post: I am no more afraid to over night at Walmart then I am to camp in general. We boondock many different places, we also spend time camping in the winter. We are often alone in different areas camping. So overnighting at Walmart is not a big deal. Happy Camping

I was kind of enjoying reading this Walmart thread about safety issue experiences, then out come the attitudes about 'sweating in a parking lot' of all things.

We're not far from a moderator intervention. Then we'll have to start all over again.

This is telling and disappointing to read.

Stealing and lying, all to a Wal*Mart employee, then stealing from Wal*Mart. You're scum.
