Will be going on I-90/80 towards Denver from Boston. Any suggestions on avoiding Chicago?

You should consider I-70 all the way to Denver as an alternate route.
I-70 will also take you directly to St.Louis' Busch Stadium, where you can take in a Cardinals game.

Well the obvious route is I-90 to Cleveland, I-71 down to I-70 and that runs you into Denver. But that runs you thru St Louis which is just about my number one place I want to avoid driving thru. We just divert to secondary roads to avoid it.

The only reason to take in a game at Busch stadium is if the CUBS are playing that team from St. Louis!

Ah yes, 2008, the 100th anniversary of the Cubs not winning the World Series.

I live along I80/94 in the Chicago area, and frequently make trips to St. Louis to visit family. I'd choose I80/94 and the Chicago route. There is little construction at this time along this route and you really miss Chicago, just hit the southern suburbs. I think the road and traffic flow is better than the north 270 bypass of St. Louis. Try to avoid rush hours either way. Just a personal preference.

St. Louis is not that bad. you can take beltway around North side I 270, then catch 370 (not interstate but is interstate quality) to avoid mess at St. Charles.
it certainly is head and shoulders above I-80 at chicago and no tolls. even if you "technically" aren't going thru chicago on I-80 you get all of the wonderful traffic problems.,

It's less than a mile off the highway and NO do not overnight there.
At Indianapolis Blvd (just a few miles later) there is a brand new Cabela's just south of the exit. MUCH better choice.
