I am planning a trip from Okla City to Mt Rushmore, perhaps Estes Park CO (or Col State Forest) on the way back. Taking the wife & Moto Guzzi Cali small touring bike.

Any recommendations where to camp & what to see? On route or visiting?

Yes. Search this Forum for `Rushmore' then search the results for `campground'.

We are going in late Aug.
Deadwood is cool, needles, deadwood railroad, crazyhorse, sturgis, mines, custer state park.
We are staying at the fish -n- fry campground because you can ride atv's right out of the campground!, there are lots of campgrounds up there!

Have fun!

Unfortunately it was a business trip. We stayed in a hotel located in Rapid City. Since we were so close we decided to take a trip over to Mt. Rushmore. There were so many Campgrounds along the way, I couldn't even begin to give you some names of them.

My wife and I spent a month last summer in Custer. It is cooler than other parts around there. Custer Gulch is nice RV park. WiFi and good walking area. Can ride 4 wheeler out of park. If your taking a motorcycle you are right at Custer State Park. Needles hwy etc. We have taken our VTX 1800 and 4 wheeler there. RV park is 14 miles from Rushmore. Really nice place to stay. Historic site. Custer camped there when he led the survey crew into Black Hills and discovered gold.
