My kids have been banned from MySpace, Bebo, FaceBook, etc. I have seen some of the stuff on there. Just because you can check what they have on their sight doesn't show you all the stuff on the sights they visit. It is a predators paradise. They can email or text message their friends and that is good enough.

I haven't seen anything good at all come from these sights.

Lets just say that I'm very familiar with My Space and my kids don't have pages and aren't allowed to visit the site.

Instead of "My Space" check out Facebook. It's much safer than My Space and only friends can be allowed to see the profile, pictures and other information. That's what my 14 year old daughter uses. I also have a Facebook account, but mostly to keep an eye on her!

Good luck!

Don't go letting the worry warts scare you away from myspace. Letting him on myspace is about as dangerous as letting him play out in the yard and requires about the same attention. As long as his page and postings are kept private and monitored by a responsible adult I don't see how any harm can come to him. I have a page so I can keep in touch with my brothers and sisters as well as my kids and see new pics of my new grand daughter. When used correctly and responsibly it's a neat tool to keep in touch with friends and family.

I agree with Rick...I was pretty against MySpace until fairly recently. My friend posts pictures that she takes at her horse farm and I joined so I could see them. It is a good way to keep in touch with friends. I only have a few MySpace friends and I know all of them in person as well. Just keep an eye on what the kids are doing...but if you're not the primary caregiver, make sure it's ok with the parents before you allow it at your house.
