LeRoy, take the model # and other info and go to the funroads site. Order a service manual. They're well written, and pretty comprehensive.

I had a similar problem on my Tioga last year. As long as the truck engine was running everything was OK. If I tried to start the generator with the truck engine off, I had the same problem as you. It turned out to be a bad ground connection on the house battery. Good Luck! They are frustrating to find.

www.funroads.com. It's the Onan RV web site. Parts, manuals, etc. You'll need your nameplate data.

WOOHOOHOOHOO!!! Jimdubya you are the man!! I cleaned and replaced the cabin battery terminals after I read your post earlier today and the Onan fired right up!! It only cost me $2 for each battery terminal and $4.95 for the cleaner/sealant too help keep them from corroding again.
I had checked and rechecked every connection on the generator end of things, but never thought that the battery connections would cause such a problem. Now, I know!!
Thanks for all the great input!!!

Once in a blue moon, mine will do that. I go out and trip the circuit breaker at the Onan genset, and let it warm up for a few minutes. Then when I turn flip the breaker back on, it pulls and fires away. Maybe some bad gas, I don't know, but the indicator lights said service required and I was in the middle of two weeks in CO dry camping. Never failed again that whole trip. (I do religously set the altitude if more than a 3000 foot change from day to day.)
