Quote: 3. if so, you have a clog in there and not everthing is draining out. flush it a couple of times until you get good clea4r flow. then it get it set for the next trip with 5 - 10 gallons of water with a cup of laundry detergent and cup of calgon water softener. we had a glog a few years ago. never again.
This is the easiest way. We do this as regular routine "maintenance" before trips and empty immediately upon hooking up. Our sensors work great and are accurate, no smell from the black tank. If you do all of this and still have a smell, then your vent may be blocked and I would check that.
If the trailer is going to be sitting for awhile between trips, at the last dump of the trip we will use a hose with a tank sprayer on the end and spray down the inside of the black tank really good - that combined with the flush king usually gets rid of anything that is left. For good measure, I will then fill the black tank till it's 1/3 full, add chemical and then put it into storage. I do this as this way, the sloshing on the way home could get anything we missed and while it's in storage, the chemicals in the water will work to break it down till the next trip (where I add Tide and Calgon before heading out).
Never had a problem with odors - even after sitting for months.
This whole tale reminds me of the Aggie that claimed to build outhouses with no stink
He got a return call from an unhappy customer.
He climbed in to check things out.
When he emerged he said, " well of course it stinks,
Look what you did in there".
Fun is that stuff that happens in between mistakes.
