I bought the oxy whatever black tank treatment from Walmart to give it a try. It works but not very well. I found paper and stuff didn't break down very well at all and oder control was better then nothing but not great. I had to flush my tank a few times and the sensors are still not clean. I guess I'll break down and order the Potty Toddy's from Camping World. They always worked great, never a problem. I hate paying shipping but since they closed our Camping World I have to order on line or buy from Walmart and Walmart doesn't carry Potty Toddy's.

a black tank is a holding tank, not a septic tank. nothing needs to be broken down, just flushed out into the septic system/sewer. use plenty of water and install a tank flusher.

heres a trick;before a trip dump a bag or two of ice down the potty, with the bumps, turns ect,the ice knocks debris off of sides and sensors thus melts and drains.

Thanks for the idea Dean.
Buying a used unit, we dont think the PW did a good job of maintaining the tank as should be done.
Even after dumping the tank and cleaning, the sensor shows about 1/4.
Ill try the ice idea on our next trip.
