Well after 3 yrs and 6 months of service our 2004 Ragen 2930-G5 is finally showing the tell tale signs of a frame failure at the pin box. Night Stands are pulling away fron the front wall. I don't see any movement at the pin box when loading to the truck but maybe I'll be lucky and it's just starting. We've only taken the 5ver out 10 times and no trip longer then 100 miles one-way and no rough dirt roads.
I have the smooth siding so it would be difficult for me to pull the siding off to inspect. Luckily we purchased the Extended warranty when we bought the trail. We already used it once when the axle spring brackets collapsed going aroud a 20 mph left turn doing 15 mph.

I know its been awhile since the original post began but any input would be nice.

Good luck with yours. I have the same model and had the same problem about 8 months ago. I repaired all the cracks and added gussets in there as well. I wish I took pics so I could show you. Im thinking of pulling my panels(aluminum sidding) again just to see how its holding up, as I still have some movement at the pinbox.

No, not anything to see from the outside. Inside both night stands are apporx. 1/8th plus out from the wall and the left is also moved inward about an 1/8th. Last trip I took in February they were flush against the wall so I know theres bee movement during this last weekends trip..

Ragenford1 I remember reading your posts awhile back. VW4x4 I'll let you all know what comes of this issue and try to get some pic's before any work is done. It may be a little bit though I need to call the dealer tomorrow.

The wife and I still love the layout of the trailer but it's too bad Rage'n bellied up and WW isn't doing much to help. After this issues fixed I hope thats it, the last was in Oct. when the suspesion brackets failed extended warranty covered most of the repair but wouldn't cover the tires tear down for a repair estimate or inner wheelwell covers which where damaged.

I posted a reply on the other thread about the repairs to my Ragen 3005 frame.
If you want to see if there is a problem just take your trailer to a repair shop that has a fork lift to pick up the trailer and bounce it to show the movement in the pin box and the frame.
If the shop had only done the fix that WW mechanics suggested it would have left a huge problem for down the road. By fixing the weakness of the pin box we found that there was more weakness of the frame further down the line. It is a pretty extensive repair and not cheap.

Sorry I have'nt been around for a bit. Oh yeah I have a problem. This last weekend I finally got around to checking the pin box. I hooked it up to the truck and watched the cabinets and piano hinge pull away from the front wall as my wife retracted the landing gear. There is as much as 3/4 of an inch away from the wall and 1/2 inch lift upward.

So at this point I can't move the trailer, which is okay at least it is at home and I have plenty of room to work. Also, I'm approximatley 40 miles from the nearest dealership and no one in Sacramento wants to touch it. The place I bought it from said I could take it to there Manteca Facility. Yeah Right! thats about 70 miles away.

ragenford1 I beleive you wrote you did your own repair work, and your trailer has the aluminum siding if I remember. This trailer has the fiberglass siding and thin front cap. Did you have to remove any of the flooring to make the repairs? I would appreciate any info you could give me. I have a person lined up to do the welding, he is a certified welder and owns a fab. shop. The Extended warranty company said they would pay for the repair, so I'm lucky for that.

Thanks ahead of time for any info Irecieve from everyone.

I did not remove my floor. With the sides being aluminum, I was able to have access to all the affected area. The cross beam on the very front of the frame on mine was bent. I could not bend it back, and did not want to cut it out and replace it as it would have been a really extensive repair. I added 2" by 6" kickers from the front cross beam to the beam behind the pin box every 8 inches or so. Also welded a plate across the front cross beam. Someone else posted a while back about removing the floor because of broken screws from the wood that go through the steel frame. I do still get movement out of mine that is concerning. Now that I have a dozen or so trips on it since my repair I am going to pull the sides off and inspect, possibly pulling the floor to check these screws that are probably broken and that is why I'm still getting movement. The bummer of it is, the trailer will never be the same. Every time I take it out I find myself looking in my rearview mirror constantly checking the movement. Good luck to you, keep us posted.

I had the same problem on my FA3405, they "Rage'n" fixed it two years ago and while I was at the AAA speedway last weekend I noticed its starting to separate again. I'll see if I can take pictures of mine. I don’t like the idea of fixing it myself, I just dumped $520 to Riverside Hitch and Trailer because my hangers on my suspension were tweaked and when I say tweaked I mean tweaked to the point where the tires on the left side were approximately 3-4inches inward and the right side were about the same outward, now I have piece of mind that my suspension has been beefed up but now Im concerned about my pin box, after this fix it started to make some kind of noise I just hope its from my 5th wheel hitch instead of the trailer.

red-rider00, last october I had the right side brackets from the frame to the springs completely fold over while going 15 in a 20 MPH turn. We had slowed to show a freind who was with us a rock outcropping over looking Dillon Beach and Tomalas Bay. Popped both R.H. tires. Once a mobile truck repair guy put on a temp fix, I took it to Dan Gamble's in Santa Rosa (now closed). They said they had never seen those brackets fail in that manner, they folded up and over in an S-shape. Turns out the brackets installed at the factoring were very thin. They replaced all the brackets and suspension parts and I could'nt believe the difference in the thickness between the old and new components. Luckily I have the Xtraride Platinum Extended warranty. They've also said they would pay for these repairs I would post the pick of the spring bracket failure if I could figure out how to do that. I'm not to good with puters.
