Well today I finally broke down and bought the MH a new flat screen TV!
I gained over 14 digital channels and what great reception on them.
Is there a special digital TV guide or an information sheet on what is on all these strange numbered channels?

All reputable TVs will have an EPG (that's the TLA for Electronic Program Guide). I believe it is mandatory for every TV sold today.
However, it is also mandatory for TV stations to broadcast that information. But here in Anchorage, AK, not all the stations have it. And the ones that do have it, do not necesarily have it correct.
Another possibility, how long has the TV been on? The frequency with which they program guide is broadcast is variable--some stations may not send it for a couple of hours.
If you've got a high quality TV and are in a major city, I don't know what to tell you...

We have two of the converter boxes, one of which we are using. Lots of the channels have more than one sub-channel. Channel 10 now has 10-1, 10-2 and 10-3. Just more channels with some in between the others like some of the old sideband CB's used to have. The sub channels may or may not have the same programming as the main analog channel.

My converter box refers to RF channel and DTV channel. Our old analog TV station, channel 3, on HDTV calls itself Channel 3-1 but is actually on RF channel 53. In addition it broadcasts channel 3-2, it's own weather channel. Other analog TV stations are also on different RF channels, for example analog channel 5 is on RF channel 14. The box I have allows you to search thru the RF channels where you can correlate the RF channel to the previous channel number, which the stations are still calling themselves. It is confusing at first.
There is no over-air guide for channels, however some channels transmit information about current programs. Stations still broadcast the old analog signal along with digital signals so channel 5 is old analog signal and 5.1, 5.2, or more would be the new digital signals. This channel, on digital is most likely actually broadcast on a higher UHF frequency. Many stations are using temporary frequencies until after the shut-down of analog transmissions in February 2009. At that point they will go to more permanent frequencies. If you connect to cable an some campgrounds you will have a program guide.

The channels listed a point 1, 2 and 3 are the digital channels you will get after Feb 17, 2009. The even numbered without the point are the analog channels you wont be getting after that.
