I have been running Ribs for 3 years, with multiple trips (30 or so)to Pismo, airing them down to 20 psi.
Have not had any issues at all.

Hey USMC,
Are your Carlise tires by any chance "Ultra CRTs?" That is what came on my Raptor, same size you listed. I know they are made by Carlisle and I too, am thinking about replacing them. I was leaning towards the BFG Commercials since they are about half the cost of the RIBS.

On your setup - what is your spacing from center of hub to center of hub on the trailer?
I want to change also, but have a concern because my spacing is 33". The ribs in 235/85/16 list the diameter as 32", thus only leaving 1" between tires on my setup.

bdougt, Hub to hub measurement is 35 inches. Space between the tires is only 3 1/4 inches.
Yardsale1, Tires are Carlisle Radial Trail ST235/85R16, no "Ultra" anywhere on them.

Dexter Axle states 1" is minimum clearance between tires. If you have 35" axle spacing the LT235/85R16 will fit no problem. IF you have 33" axle spacing probably want to consider the LT245/75R16 size instead. Both of these size tires are good for 3042#. If you need the higher weight rating of a LR G the Goodyear is pretty much your only choice in 16"

If your trailer came with G rated tires I don't thing I would move down to E's. I have always gone the other way and moved up to a stronger tire for my own peace of mind.

I agree - 35" hub to hub spacing should be ideal.
Not intending to hijack the thread, but a simple question please. My rims are 16 x 6 and Michelin 245/75/16 recommends 6.5 inch wide rims at a minimum. Does anyone see a problem with the 6" rims?

Why would you air down your trailer tires? I've been dune'n for 20 years and can't remember ever airing down our trailer tires or anyone else in our group.
As far as the XPS' go, we've had ours for a little over a year now. They are awesome, the trailer rides and tows much better. Our trailer is a triple axle WW Cl that is very heavy even empty, and we've had it loaded with absolutely no problems.
They are an excellent tire, pricey, but well worth the dollars.

I guess it depends on how far from the road you want to be? I do not air down unless I'm getting stuck. but I hear it is pretty much required at Pismo? I had all steel radials on a motorhome and the tire shop said if I ever ran a tire flat(Slow leak)to replace it?

I just check the manufacturer sticker and the recommended tires are load range D. The previous owner said he replaced the tires once and must have upgraded to the G rated tires. Since all that is recommended is D rated, I think I'll be good to go with the XPS Rib.
