Have a question regarding rear kitchens. We are considering a rear kitchen model but remember hearing problems about the weight in the rear. Just curious to hear the pros/cons for rear kitchens. Trying to figure out whether to avoid those models or not. Thanks.

I suppose its mostly personel preference Our previous 5er was a rear kitchen Our new one is rear living Reaso for change it seemed more user friendly to have the kitchen and dining table in the center of camper easier to transfer food outside and DW said she didn't feel as cramped up being stuck at the stern end when she cooked so all our reasons for the change were convenience and preference weight distrubution was not a factor

We have a 07 Cardinal 31LERK (rear kitchen) and have traveled approximately 15,000 miles. We haven't had a problem so far. I know people call them "dish breakers". We like the added counter top space in the RK. Now, on occasion, the canned goods in the pull out pantry bounce out. I think we are going to place some 'wire ties' on the wire baskets in the pantry. The wire baskets come loose on occasion and spill the canned goods and peanut butter jars! We use hard to break dishes and such. I lover concrete highways!!!

Make sure all your dish cabinets are lockable while towing, open cupboard doors slowly to catch dishes and cups when the fall out when you reach your destination.
My personal preference is a mid kitchen, I would never have a rear kitchen or bedroom ever again.

This is such a personal preference thing you are going to get a lot of "I love it/I hate it" responses. What do you want? Where do you want your view? That should be your main concerns. A properly built fiver with shocks at each wheel will eliminate a lot of problems no matter what the floor plan is. Choose what you like and enjoy.

The rear of a 5er will take the most road bounce of anywhere in the coach. Keep that in mind in your decision.

We have a RK in out TT and it has worked out very well. After we bought it I wondered about the fridge and cabinet contents bouncing around but it hasn't been an issue. We did have three drawers that sometimes opened and spilled but we put a strap through the handles to secure them. I really like the refer being next to the door for getting a cold one without having to walk through the rig.

It really boils down to personal preference. My wife greatly prefers the wrap-around feeling she gets and the cabinet space she gets with our rear kitchen Cougar.

Cougar 292RKS Rear Kitchen

Almost 2000 miles on this trailer so far and we have had no issues regarding bounce, etc in the cabinets, drawers or fridge ... (We do not go off-road tho)

Our new TT has a rear kitchen. We love it because it offers the floorplan we wanted as well as a large amount of counter space and a "U"-Shaped counter design. Also, one can now work in the kitchen without having other people If and when we ever get another TT. it will have to be a RK again.

Cons: None that I can't deal with. Yes, things bounce around a little more in the cabinets but I have never had a door open and we just learned how to pack better. We now have NO issues.
