Have an 06 RK Laredo.
DW likes the counter space and I like the extra room in the living area.
No broken dishes yet. only about 12,000mi on this unit
The Equa-flex do help and I think shocks would help more but I'm toooo Cheep to install them.

IMHO, the biggest 'con' is you lose the giant picture window...on my RL, it covers most of the entire back wall.

My Moms Alpenlite is a rear kitchen. She hates it. Like was mentioned, every time they get to a site, she has to re-arrange the kitchen, because everything has moved around in the cabinets.

We have a rear kitchen on our 5er and it is not bad, I would say it is personal preference. The DW says she would rather have a rear picture window but I like the layout as I find it roomier.

We have had both and to tell you the truth it is a matter of preference. There is normally more counter space with the rear kitchen, also if you are looking at a smaller unit ( 28 to 32 ft.) you usually have more lounge space with the RK. As for dish breaking there are precautions to take, we put rubber matting between all dishes, you know the stuff you buy to line the shelves. This will eliminate most of the movement in the shelves. In the 2 years we had our RK and to trips to Arizona and back we broke the handle on 1 coffee cup. As for stuff rearranging itself never had that problem, maybe the rubber took care of that issue. You can also add something like the trailair equalizer to the suspension and this will greatly reduce the bounce in the trailer.

Good Luck

Another vote for the rear kitchen. We looked at the rear living and we thought the distance was too far from the lounge chairs to the TV. We like the floorplan that the rear kitchen gave us.

We love our rear-kitchen and we have a giant picture window in the living room on the side right where we want it. We have a ton of counterspace and have never had anything really out of place after traveling....everything is right where it should be. We have shocks on our 5'er.

Another thing we like about the rear kitchen is that the person working in the kitchen is not "in the way" visually or for foot traffic ... and the person working in the kitchen is not bothered by any "thru traffic" either.

I agree with Dennis. We have the rear kitchen and love the open look, additional counter space and floor space. I've noted that the center kitchens often seem "in the way" when there is a lot of traffic. We've not had any problems with dishes, glasses, moving around. And our narrow pantry keeps canned goods, boxes, etc. upright and in place. Of course, all of these shelves are packed tightly, as I can't seem to get rid of anything.

As others have stated, it's a matter of personal preference and "lifestyle." There's no right or wrong.
