I was up cleaning our rubber roof on the weekend and all looked fine up there except for one little section that looked like it had been in contact with something sharp - like a pizza cutter. Now, the holes did not puncture the roof right through - there are just about 6 small divots - like being poked with a sharp pen. I couldn't get up to take a photo before we took the trailer back to storage because it was raining.

The little indents look okay now, but my concern is that over time, they will erode or degrade and create actual holes. Other than keeping an eye on that area, is there anything else I can do to prevent these holes from become worse? Seal with Dicor roof sealant, maybe?

Thanks,
Paula

Just keep and eye on them. It may be the subroof had some knots in the wood that shrank and formed the depressions.

The best repair for rubber or EPDM roofs is Eternabond Tape. It doesn't take much in the way of preparation, just a good cleaning of the surface, and it does last.

Sounds like you drug a tree limb across the roof or you had a critter with sharp claws up there (squirrel).Use eternabond patches over the suspect areas and don't worry about them.

Sounds like you had a visit from some sort of bird like a flicker, woodpecker, or even a crow.

I noticed a large ( really large) limb at the rear of my trailer a couple months ago. I looked under the cover and didn't see any damage, so I thinked God and went on!! Well a couple days ago I removed the cover to clean it all up and about 6-8' in there is a large cut in the rubber membrane about the size and shape of a horseshoe. I was sick as I am very anal about my RV. I ran down and looked inside but no apparent water damage. The OSB under the membrane was slighlty damp. I believe the cover kept the water from running directly in the hole and wicked it away. I ordered the repair kit from CW for $40 and right now I have it opened up so it can dry real good before I seal it up when the patch kit gets here. I highly suggest all of us carry a repair kit with us as this could of happened in a CG while on a trip. In your case since it didn't penetrate the membrane I would just check it now and then. If it makes you feel better place a patch over this area, surely can't hurt!!

The Camping World patch kit is clearly not based on Eternabond tape. The CW description says "Use the flexible silicone patching material and adhesive to repair seam tears, gouges and punctures in your EPDM rubber roof." I wouldn't want to use this material because silicone residue is very hard to remove when you want to use something else later, and generally nothing else sticks to silicone, including Eternabond tape.
The $50 price will buy a nice roll of Eternabond.

If you want to get the eternabond tape, get it from these folks, CW sells a 37' roll for more money than Best Materials charges for a 50' roll.
