Our newest member is Rocky, and here is the reason why.
He's a mini American Eskimo and was the size of a pop can when we brought him home. Within the first three days he had (by the big dogs)been run over, laid on, bitten,. Chased by the cats (twice or three times his size). Fallen through the ice on the little pond in my yard and gotten soaked. Fallen into the trench that was dug to run the power to the garage and couldn't get out. one of the kids closed him in between the door and the screen door.
So we he was off to a Rocky start in our household and Rocky stuck , luckily he wasn't hurt (physical, or emotional)and he and us have adjusted to having a little guy around

We have a Jack Russell terrier mix named Prissy. My husband and I watch South Park and one of the little boys on the show has some stuffed animals he uses to have a tea party. He calls one of them Polly Prissy Pants, and we always thought that was funny. When we first saw this little puppy prancing around, someone said she was prissy. We looked at each other, laughed, and immediately named her Polly Prissy Pants.

Named our little Pom (with teddy bear hair cut) Yodee, or Yoder depending on my mood after Yoda from the Star Wars movie. Because as a pup his head and expecially his ears looked just like Yoda. Talk about a spoiled little baby thats my Yodee! Been my best buddy for 8 yeaars now!

We named our Standard Poodle Gabriella as I wanted an Italian name (for my husband - esp since we always named the horses with Norwegian names!). We call her Bella for short.
I picked Kabira the Rhodesian Ridgeback's name out of a baby name book - it means "strength" in African.
Spike the miniature poodle got his name cause I wanted a non-fluffy name for such a cute fluffy little guy. I grew up with a little poodle named Thor - a big name for a little guy so it just seems natural to give a "tough" name. Plus he needs all the toughness he can get - his playmates are much bigger than him!
Its so much fun finding names :-)

Black Lab named Chipper Jones (Chipper) because we live near Atlanta, GA, home of the Atlanta Braves!
Brindle Boxer named Duke. We adopted him last summer (he was already 5 years old) and he came with that name. We tried to change his name, but he never would answer to it, so we gave up.

I wanted to name our newest addition, a lhasapoo (lhasa poodle mix), Lily but my sister nixed that because she wants to name her firstborn daughter Lily. So I went with Libby since it is close. I just had to have a girly name since I am surrounded by men! We call her LibbyLu most of the time (which is a store in Downtown Disney, Anaheim).
With our schnauzer, he was such a gentleman that I wanted him to have a regal sounding name so I chose Duncan.
Our cats are Cleo and Oliver who were named after Disney characters. In the past, we had parakeets named Pudge and Wilson named after baseball players Pudge Rodriguez (Texas) and Dan Wilson (Seattle).
Good luck naming your new puppy!

Our GSD is Cassiopeia, Kassy for short, after the constellation. Our Husky was Rotor because at the time we found her we only had Rotary Engine Mazdas!

Kaia is named for my granddaughters - Kaylee, Maya, and Alaina. Maggie was named for the character in "Northern Exposure"; I had a major crush on Janine Turner. Still a beautiful woman.
