Ok, Well Friday we headed out for a 3 night weekend at Hopeville Pond State Park in CT. (Beautiful park by the way. Highly recommended) We were on Rt 32 in Willimantic CT in stop and go traffic.
We came to a stop with our 2 month old 2008 Honda CRV (only 3500 miles on it) in tow 4 down on the back and we felt a bump. It was such a small bump I said "what was that" DW said "We were just hit" and jumped out of her chair. I jumped up and went out to look and sure enough a 2005 Jeep Wrangler rear-ended the back of the CRV.
Luckily the jeeps bumper went under the CRVs so it doesn't look all that bad but there is a lot of damage underneath.
On the front, the Blue OX base plate bent and crushed the AC condenser coil (I am not sure if there is more damage on the front).
I have had the Blue OX stuff and the RV inspected and I have been told I need a new base plate and tow bar but the receiver on the RV is OK $1500.
I have not gotten an estimate on the CRVs damage yet but I would guess at least $5000 - $7000 (minimum).
Oh well life goes on, we had a great time camping,..
UPDATE 06/25
I agree with all the comments, we are very thankful no one was hurt it would have put a real damper on an otherwise great weekend.
She did have insurance so we should be ok there. She was insured by Progressive so I will let you know how it goes.
I got my own quote from the dealer before the insurance adjuster comes out. The damage to the CRV $6800 and probably 3 weeks of loss of the car. and that is before they take it apart. They could find more wrong. So this small bump is up around $8500+

Oh, good grief! So sorry about that. Geez, it doesn't a huge hit to stack up the damages (speaking from experience of being rear ended three times so far).
Hope it all works out.

Ouch! I feel your pain. I would expect that the repair will be paid for by the insurance of the guy that hit you. But shop time will not be trivial.
We were side swiped by a hit and run a few years ago in LA. It was a flat bed trailer in a hurry and he swung it into us as he went by. He didn't think we were going fast enough to be on HIS road. Cracked the right front quarter, not a show stopper but MY insurance paid and it has cost me.
After your repair double check your lights on the tow'd. I always worry that my brake lights may not function and mislead a tailgater into just what happened to you. Of course it only takes a second's inattention to cause that kind of accident.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident. You will likely have your hands full for a while, trying to get everything repaired and working again. I'm glad that no one was hurt.
People are often critical of me for worrying about tail gaters, especially in heavy traffic. "Just drive on and don't worry" is what I'm told. It is situations like yours that make me paranoid. No amount of insurance money makes up for the grief and aggravation of being hit.
Sorry again for your problems.
