I have no help available Thursday and need to install my 5th Airborne pinbox Thursday morning. How can I do this? The dang thing weighs 135 pounds and although I am fairly fit, I am not that strong.
I think someone said that they put the pinbox in their 5er hitch and backed up under the 5er to install it? Can this be done and work? How else could I do this?
The instructions are a little vague too, I read about people putting the airbag in a different hole to increase or decrease pin weight? How will I know how much weight it is putting on the truck? I would like the 2800 pounds on the truck like it has been doing thus far, the truck rides best this way. Advice please?

Moving the airbag to the front or rear does not change your pinweight.
Pinweight stays the same. Moving airbag changes the point of leverage.
With a 2,800 lb pinweight you will want most leverage possible or close to it. My pinweight is close to that and I have airbag in second
setting from the rear and run 90 lbs air. Follow directions when airing it up and stop airing when you reach the line on the shock.
As far as installing yourself, I have read of guys installing it there
self but I didnt try. I paid a shop $100 to do it.
You will probably have to go up one set of holes on hitch from where
it was before or trailer may be nose high.

I was wondering about it changing the hitch height as well. I was planning on installing it in the next set of holes up to maintain the hitch height. I was thinking about installing it loosely and then measuring to the pin itself to see if it matches what it currently is at. Does it consistently change the hitch height for everyone?

It set my rig 3" nose high, so I dropped the hitch. Measure your old pinbox before you take it off and then set the 5thA to the same height.
As for installing it yourself, I did it myself by resting it on a stool that was sitting on my tailgate.

I installed mine by myself in about an hour without much trouble. I put the 5thAB into the hitch then blocked up the back. One thing is that the truck has to be perfectly centered under the box mount. It is not that easy. Also, be careful of any wiring that is located inside the box mount. One wrong move and the wiring will be cut.
As far as lifting it up, once its in the back of the truck, you only need to lift half the weight to get it into the hitch. Its not that bad.
I also installed mine 2 sets of holes higher than the old hitch and it sits level. Measure the old one first.

I had mine put in...installation came as part of the deal when I bought it. As for the air bag and holes...it's all explained in the directions.

I used blocks in the bed of the truck to get the pin box to the correct height and adjusted the blocks so that the holes were lined up.
I had to lower my hitch to the lowest adjustment.

If you have a cable hoist commonly known as a come along you can lift it using the rafters in your garage and the come along to get it into the bed. then snap it into you hitch. I just installed a mor ryde pin box and it went extremly well with no help.

Just make sure your rafters can support the weight.... and don't stand under it...
