I will be going from Texas to Wisconsin shortly, and will be traveling I-40 through Arkansas, going North on I-55 at West Memphis, then North on I-57 through Illinois. I assume these roads are all OK, but with all of the flooding going on I just wanted to ask anyone who might have travelled them recently.

TIA

No problem. The flooding isn't bothering the interstates.

I-55 from West Memphis to Cairo Illinois is the most boring dreary depressing stretch of interstate I've ever traveled. It improves greatly once you hit I-57. By the way, very impressive list of toys. I would love to see an original 427 Cobra idling around the KOA someday.

Hmmmm, not sure where your final destination in Wisconsin will be.

Instead of taking I-57, I might want to stay on I-55 and then take I-39 up north. Beats going through Chicago-land.

We drove from Texas up to the Wisconsin and the Western UP of Michigan a couple of years ago. We traveled up I-35 to I-75 and then through Oklahoma. Then I-69 to I-44 (toll road) and then took Highway 71 north through western Missouri and got on I-35 again which eventually took us to Minnesota. We then traveled east on Highway 77 in Wisconsin. It was a very scenic road with little traffic.

We are both from Michigan and have made the I-30, I-55, I-57 trip so many times to visit family there that we feel we could do it blindfolded. So we choose the OK/MO as mentioned because it was different.

Just some thoughts.....

Just took a streatch of I-57 from Paducah to Mt Vernon, as rough a road as I've been on in a long time. But no flooding. I 70 thru St. Louis was okay too.

You must never have driven I-10 between Kerrville and El Paso, now that's some desolate country.

Gizmosmom, my first stop is in Nappanee IN, then on to Milwaukee, final destination is north of Rhinelander. I really have to go up 55 & 57. I hate the bypass around Chicago, it really irks me to have to pay to drive roads that horrible. The same with 80/90 across north Indiana.

PaulandTammy here's some eye candy for you, unfortunately this trip my Jeep gets towed.

I agree with EchosMom, depending on where you are going in WI, look at I-39, less traffic and tolls. If Milwaukee is your final destination you could even take I-43 when you cross the IL/WI line.

K9eros,

I was born and raised in Central Texas, made the 1-10 trip several times. I think that is one of the prettiest drives there is. No pesky trees to get in your way of the view. Empty spaces in Texas are much better than empty spaces anywhere else. (JMO)

The last time we drove on I-10 was from Pasadena to near Harper (Highway 290). UT had beaten Michigan in the last few seconds of the 2005 Rose Bowl.

We floated home through California, Arizona, New Mexico and West Texas. It was a beautiful drive!

We travel I-57 to I-74 Pick up I-55 to I-39 from KY. to northern IL. No way will I pay the high $$ Il. Toll's.

Let us know where in WI. you are going we may be able to help more. Used to live along the IL./WI. border.

Gas is also cheaper this route. Anywhere away from Chi. or MIl. gas will be cheaper.
