Our water heater makes a loud "Whoosh" sound when it fires on LP. You hear the clicks then the "Whoosh" sometimes it does not fire on the first try. It has also needed to be reset a couple times. Our last HTT had the same water heater but never made this sound. Is this normal? We have not had to have this TT back for warranty work yet, could this be our first? So far it is working just worried about the "Whoosh".

Sounds normal (without actually hearing or seeing the flame) to me. Next time you have it by the dealer (just stop by if your int he area) have them take a look at the flame. Could just need an adjustment.

My trailer's water heater makes the same sound. I hear click, click, click, woosh and it's on. The chamber needs to get the right mixture of propane and air before it fires up. I wouldn't worry about it unless it goes on for more than 30 seconds to a minute. Mine does it for maybe 5- 10 seconds.

And was the old WH as close, or in a location where you couldn't hear it as well?
Personally, since I'm the gas man, the HW man, the refrigeration man, I LIKE being able to hear things fire up! I don't wanna' become the fireman---knowing how things are operating keeps me happy!

Your ignitor may have to be adjusted if it isn't lighting on the first try. After the air is purged it should light the first time every time. The woosh is normal as the gas turns on for a brief second before it inites so the woosh is this pocket of gas igniting.

That sounds normal. It's just the water heater igniting.

It sounds like there may be spider webs or other debrise in the flash-tube.
When running, you will hear this "whoosh" but there should be no delay in ignition and/or a big "pop" or "whoosh" on initial start-up.
This scenario usually indicates a delay and build-up of raw propane getting to the ignitor due to blockage. Blowing air through the tube from the venturi end should cure the problem. DO NOT blow air from the upper-end of the tube. This could possibly blow dirt into the orifice.
The only other issue could be a defective, slow-opening gas valve.
