Looking for some input. I just picked up a 2005 F-250 super Duty and looking to change the stock size tire to one that looks good on the truck and is functional for Towing 5er and for using on the beach on occasion. The existing tire is the 265 70 R 17 LTX A/S on 17x7.5J rims. I really do not want to change the rims this time around. What tire can I put on this rim that will maintain the towing capacity, allow me to put this heavy truck on the beach and make the truck look better.
Thanks all
You have large tires as it is, I doubt that you can find much bigger ones. Looks is an opinion. The ones you have should work fine and save you many dollars.
I have a similar truck... 2005 F350SD SRW 4X4 PSD. I have a 4-1/2" Donahoe Racing lift on mine and I'm running 315/70-17's. Yep, it's tall!
My truck has to be functional for off-road (lease roads in the oilfield that are at times unpassable with a "normal" 4X4) as well as towing a 34' 5er. I have a similar dilemma that my trailer sits nose-high. The dealership where I bought my 5er is looking into the best way to make it level. It's not THAT bad but I am a perfectionist.
I'll let you know how I make out.
For starters your stock tires will do just fine if they have'nt been changed and are still e rated(10ply)Your truck will take a tall tire w/o lifting it but they do make a leveling kit thats not exspensive by Ready Lift.Nitto Terra Grappler makes a 305/70r17 10ply,it's like 34in. tall. That tire should work w/o lifting it but the leveling kit looks real nice.www.nittotire.com Good Luck!
