Did a forum search with no luck. What the heck is a slideout tube? Our new (to us) Granite Ridge has stickers reminding you to remove the slideout tubes after travel before deploying the slideout. They are mentioned in the manual, but it is not specific. Whatever these are, I never saw them in or around the slideout and it has been used a couple of times. Although, there are some unknown metal items in one of the outside storage bays. Someone please help solve the mystery--what are they and do I need them? Thanks.

They are probably supports that go on top or the slide when it is retracted. These would keep it from moving out while traveling. Some slide manufactures use them, some do not. If the manufacture supplied them, I would use them.

I'm wondering if they're safety bars that go between the retracted slideout and the wall. Kind of a CYA thing some manufacturers do to prevent the slide from moving out when the rig is rolling down the road.
Not that such a thing happens - a safety bar came with our rig, and we use it. Some people do, some don't. Your call.
BTW, do you have pics of these devices?

Here is a picture of a slide lock. Length can vary depending on how far slide moves.
Slide Locks.
I do not use ours. But have heard a lot of horror stories about slide moving out while driving down the road.

That's what ours looks like.....
It doesn't take long to put it in or take it out, so I figure I might as well.
BTW, I keep the key to the slide control looped around that bar (on a rubber band), so I can't try to extend the slide without removing the bar first (to get the key). Someone else's idea, but I think it's a goodn'.

I went out and looked at what was in the storage bay, they are similar to the picture posted but with what appears to be an additional lever on the side that locks it tight into place. There is already a large travel hook type thing on the floor to hold the slide in place in an emergency. Sounds like this manufacturer was serious about the slide not going anywhere. Thanks for all of the info, I think we will use these on the next trip just in case .

We used ours in our old MIni Winnie because the top of the slide would tilt out on hard right corners. It tilted up enough to bind in place on one transition off the highway to a mountain road. After we managed to get it back in we used them from that point on.
The one in our Navion has a red strap on it with the key to the slide out switch clipped to the end. We place the lock bar on top of the slide with that strap over the top lip so we are reminded when it is in place. Kinda like the red tags they place on AF jet landing gear safety pins to keep the gear from folding up on the ground and the pilots from flying with them in.

I wish our slide had a key to deploy it. That is my biggest concern with the slide locks (Jayco called them "tubes" that is why I could not find them on the forum!) is that we will forget to take them out. I already used a labelmaker to put a sticker reminding me about the travel hook. Next question, exactly where do these things go? I am guessing at the top on the corners?

It probably does not matter very much where you put them. The picture in "ronfisherman's" link looks like a good spot. Some have put them above the slide. We have found that not only do the slide locks provide an extra measure of safety, they have also eliminated a rattle. I'm sure they improve the water tightness of the top seal. I took a shipping tag something like these , attached a rubber band, wrote "Antennae" on it and hang that on the ignition switch when the antennae is up and on the crank handle when it is down. Maybe something like that might work to remind you of the slide locks.

Jayco should have the wall marked on where to put them. If you put them in non-supported section of the wall you could do serious damage.
I have had several rigs with slides and have yet to use a slide lock, call me lucky but to each his own.
