Open the mail and there it is, promiseing that for a fee, I can save lots of money if I join a camp ground membership.
This being a class A site, and thinking that most class A's visit a camp ground, am wondering just what the odds are of my calling and getting a decent camp site, if the management has been clued in to the 50% discount I am after.. Will management give up a reserved 50% off site rather than chance a walkin who will pay the rack rate.? I am referring to Class A parks for Class A's which often are full by 6:30 pm..

I shared your skepticism on CG discounts, BUT Passport America is the real deal. There are lots of GCs participating and I have never had a problem getting in. Look at their website to see their CGs. It is a 50% discount club.

We have only once in four years not been able to get into a Passport America CG. We generally call ahead around 1pm each travel day and have no problems.

We use both Passport America and CampClubUSA 50% off and have never had a problem getting in. Just watch the restrictions that each CG lists in the catalogs.

Passport America does have some great deals, but here in Washington most are only good Monday thru Thursday or September thru April. Great if you're a full-timer, but not if you're a weekend warrior. Their website will show you all the available resorts and the restrictions for each.

I did enjoy my membership until the resort I normally go to stopped accepting the Passport America card.

We have used Passport America for years and only once were given a second-class site. But, even that wasn't really because of the discount. This CG had some sites that were in the "heading out" area. They were simply for folks who were just spending the night and planning to move on early the next morning. And that is just what we wanted.
