Current owners of the newer trailers,
Are you able to keep your electric awning out when it is simply raining?
Thanks

No you'd get electrocuted.
Sorry had to jump on that. I don't have the electric awning on my Rockwood, but I have seen many electrics out no matter what the weather.
I personally don't see a problem, some even have wind speed detectors and automatically roll up if the wind gets beyond a set speed.
Maybe someone else may know better

We have been retracting the awning when the rain starts or if it gets windy. I am not sure if we are going to like this awning. It has loaded up with rain water and would not retract until I drained it by pushing up on the awning with a broom, and gallons of water dumped. I read on another forum that A&E might have an adjustment in order to allow for water drain. Anyone else have information on this?

We have left ours out in the rain. My biggest concern is how easy it bows up during a breeze. I have to put it in when it gets breezy. Most of the time when it is breezy it wouldn't keep the rain off of you because it would blow in the sides anyway I'd suppose.
But yes, I have left mine out in the rain and the gas strut did what it should and dumped the water.

Has anyone tried to tie one down like you do with a manual awning?

Ours borders on worthless. Cannot leave it out in the rain nor wind. If wind is not to bad is is OK when tied down. I would never buy another one. Salesman talked us into it after demonstrating the rain dump feature in the showroom them installed a unit without the rain dump. Don't have the dump feature in writing so am stuck. This was not the only item I did not get detailed in writing that we did not get. Sorry for venting but am still upset with the dishonest salesman. Love the TT and it has been nearly trouble free.

We bought a Flagstaff Classic Lite 831FKSS in May 2008. We did not even give a thought about electric Dometic awning until it rained and we could not tip one corner. Just found out from the dealer that a part is due out the 1st of August to install so the corner can be tipped. Good news for us as we do not want to roll in and out every time it rains. Anyhow what if we are not there and it rains. Besides every time its rolled in, stuff underneath gets wet. If we had a choice, we would have went with manual knowing what we know now. We have a 20 ft awning with no center support. Any suggestions?
