Well then , thanks for all the bashing!

It WAS intended as 'I' screwed up by not really looking at all the features. And simply thought I would pass it on to save someone else from making the same mistake. geeze, lighten up.

Just thought a TV is a TV like the old days, buy it, plug it in, view it all angles, apparently not with the new techy ones.

I have noticed our large plasma tv can be viewed from most any angle with no problem but the LCD unit in the bathroom really washes out unless you are right in front of it. Not sure why but I can't sit in the spa and watch tv without looking in mirror over the sink and then every thing is backwards. Guess a plasma for the bathroom is next. Life is good!!

Newer LCDs are getting alot better with the viewing angles. Cheaper ones may be a different story.

Talked to a fellow techy camper today.

He said to look for the degrees of the TV. He said most of the times this should be in the specs for the TV.
I.E the degrees surrounding the TV that are viewable.
And that is why the ones on sale are not as good, they are fazing them out as modern technology becomes less expenseive they will replace the better viewing capabilites into the smaller less expensive ones.

Don't know if he is right on this one but. He said the first flat screen tv's were based on computer screens and that they were only viewable from right in front to keep other people from seeing maybe important secure info.

Funny thing is I bought a new laptop with the entertainment package and I can watch dvd's on it from ANY angle in my MH, but not the TV.

Hope this helps anyone buying their first flat screen tv for the MH.
Look for the degrees on the box or start squatting down, moving way to the left or right of the display model in the store to see if it is viewable from these positions before you buy.

I agree the OP is just trying to be helpful. Thanks for relating your experience. We bought a new 50" LCD for our home, and asked specificly before buying if it received digital signals. Salesman lied, but since I accepted his word instead of reading the owners manual myself, only this month did I discover it has an analog tuner.

I also agree, but without telling folks what brand/model to avoid, his help is vague at best.

Only because it was MY fault for not looking at the specs very carefully certainly not the manufacturers fault. I don't indulge in bashing brands on the forum, there are just too many variables when something is wrong with a product and not necessarily due to only the brand.

I was not looking for big and expensive because I am not centered around watching TV in the MH. Wanted something small that did not take up space in my MH.

Gotta admit after talking to my camper friend, he did come up with the brand name I bought before I even told him!

So, it was a Magnavox 19", and he said the Panasonic 19" will also have the same problem. Coincidentally these are the 2 brands I found to be advertised on sale at most stores. Bottom line is though, we should still probably check for the viewing radius of any of these new type TV's before we buy it. Hope that helps you'all!

I'm off today to buy another one, armed with a little bit more knowledge.

We have a cheap 15" LCD TV/DVD for the 5er and it's viewable from almost any reasonable angle, so they do vary considerably. I have noticed that even many of the higher-end TVs these days assume you will be using a remote control and have minimal or no controls on the unit itself. The OP's cautions could apply to any brand and I appreciate the heads-up.
