Our 2008 Montana 3400RL came with an dometic electric awning with no adjustments. Does anyone else have this awning and has it caused any problems?
From our point of view it has good points and bad points. We like the ease of putting it in and out but with no adjustments, hanging lights off of it is difficult since we aren't 6 foot tall. There are no awning arms that run along side of the awning on each end so attaching de-flappers is impossible - but it is easy to just zip it in when it gets windy. Same when it's rainy, I can't dip one end to let the rain roll off, but I can just bring it in when it's raining.
I have an awning similiar to yours on sig. 5er, it's a Carefree. There are no adjusments on it that I'm aware of. I like how fast and easily it is to extend and retract, and it seems to take a pretty stout wind before I feel I should roll it back up. Putting lights on does take a step ladder though. I've been looking at it to see if any adjustments are available, but don't see anyway to "dip one side", or make it lay at a lower angle. Of course they do make a model that does all that, it's just not the one that came on "MY 5er"

Common complaints about many of the cheaper electric awnings that are being put on now.
Only problem I see with retracting in the rain, is that alot of times I count on the awning to keep the chairs, etc dry. Retracting the awning lets everything get wet.
I went with the manual on my 5er because of the lack of adjustment and no rain dump feature.
I don't think I'd call it "cheaper". They, Carefree of Colorado, make a good product and have a very good reputation. I purchased sig. 5er off the lot, it came with the electric awning. To be truthful, I'd prefer the manual type, BUT, it is what it is, and has performed quite well in rain, light and heavy and some pretty hefty winds that I'd probably have rolled my manual awning back up in.
Our 5er came with a power awning also and I like how quick it is to put out and take in but, no adjustment for when it rains or for putting the lights on it. I can barely reach the awning roll for putting the light hooks and lights on but, my wife has to stand on a step stool to reach.
