We had to take a car trip from Holbrook, Az. to Flagstaff Az. on the I-40 today. One way it's about 100 miles. Just for fun we counted all the RV travelers to Flagstaff. Going westbound we counted "49" RVer's going eastbound. Now this included Class A; 5ver's; class C; and tent trailers (quite a few of those.) Going eastbound we counted 35 going westbound. Not a bad showing for 200 miles of Interstate! I just wonder what it was like before the fuel went sky-high? For a change, the big-rigs were going about 65mph, the state partol were bored, they were in the medians talking to each other.

Yep, you'll find me driving slower these days as well. I used to cruise at 65-70. Now I set the cruise control at 60 and I usually don't exceed that speed unless I'm approaching an incline. California limits all vehicles towing a trailer (yes, that includes toads) to 55 MPH, so although I get real bored at that speed, I spend alot less time looking in my mirrors for the CHP.

Two days ago we had a need to go from Eugene, Oregon to Salem, Oregon on I5....we saw FEW rvs (didn't count them) and I can honestly say, we felt the traffic was about half of what was a year ago on that section. We're happy -- when we got home today, the fuel prices had not jumped at our local truck stop!!!

I realize fuel is high, but when you stop to consider either staying home or staying in hotels, I will take an empty campground. We see it too. Less people camping. It is a shame, but it means better spots for the rest of us.
