From 1979 to 1985 I pulled a 36 ft. goose neck collecting old cars, I remember stoping at a scale in N.M. and weighting in at 18,600 lbs. I had pick up to cars in Dallas and pulled them back to Phx. Az. with a 1979 1/2 Chev. The Chev like all pickups was dumb so it didn't know it couldn't pull the load so it did for 6 years over 90 thousand miles, and now sets up at my cabin with 440 thousand miles on it without useing any oil yet.I will put you all in charge of the worrying, while I go out and do the doing.
I truly believe that if all warning labels were removed we would no longer see you posting here.
I am thrilled you don't live in my area and endanger my family every time you leave your property. I marvel that you constantly admit to such ignorance.

My 07.5 6.6L with a 3500lb trailer would gets about 18 on the highway at 70mpg. I just got back from a weekend at a state park about 200 miles away. Our trailer is at about 13K, so combined I'm at 22K, and I averaged 12.5 with a regen in there (13.5 before that darn regen). I have 3.73s as well. I can vouch for the 15 as my buddys highwall popup is a little under 4000 and get got 15 on the way home. The 08s also have active fuel management which will rarely kick in while towing.
As of yesterday gas was 3.85 here (3.85/15=.2566) and diesel was 4.44 (4.44/18=.2466) I saved a penny. WOOO HOOO... but I guess I spent another 10K! On the plus side I can tow my 5th wheel and get 23 unloaded on the highway. The highest my buddy gets is 19-20.
As stated, it really depends what you do with it. You won't get the same gas mileage with a 3,500lb empty enclosed car hauler.

I wonder if that guy is for real?? Who drives an old school bus??
As long as it is safe to be on the road, what is wrong with it. On a stormy night, I bet a guy in a tent would be very envious of him.

You belong in prison. If you actually did this (as opposed to being a teenager trolling, which I suspect has more connection with reality than your persona here does), you should have been flayed to death. You should not be permitted to breed under any circumstances.
Last time I went across N.M. didn't I see your bus parked out side of Las Cruces about a 1/2 mile with a smoke stake on it and peace painted on the back door. I think it was the same model any. Is that old wood shed your to, and the 1988 LTD that is up side down next to it.
Haven't made it to NM (yet)...but that isn't a peace sign on the back. The only graphics on the back are a Boston Red Sox logo opposite the licence plate under the taillight on the right side. I suggest cutting way back on the drugs.

Lots of people. I built it after seeing how horridly most factory MH's were put together. It's an old bus for 2 simple reasons: it made for a much cheaper starting point (read: I got it free), and most buses newer than about 1985 have automatic transmissions.

What, do you think you are better than him?
Mike
Of course he does. That's clear from everything he posts.
I have an 02 GMC HD. I could be wrong but I believe the 2500HD only came with the 410 rear end. The 2500 had 373's. I've had both trucks and the mileage #'s sound about right.

Thanks for the feedback. The 10.2mpg was disappointing, but apparently not far from the norm.
The empty 6.0L 2500HD is 11% heavier than the 1/2T, and in this test the GCW's differed by only 6% (10,085lb vs. 10,700lb), but the 3/4T used 50% more fuel.
How fast were you going ?? If I pull my 3,500 atv trailer with my 2500HD at 70 or above even if there are some grades it gets between 10.5 and 11.5 mpg. If I slow down to 55-60 it will get 13 mpg pulling on the same road. Also if his 2500HD is an 02 then he doesn't have 3.73's he has 4.10's.
