I am thinking of installing new batteries in my 5er and was wanting to know which ones would be the best? I have 2-12V Marine type batteries now, was installed by the factory(Carriage). The ones now are around 5yrs old but still work, just not as good as they used to, and I need a new battery for my farm tractor and thought it would be a good time to take one of these from the 5er and replace both of them. So give me some good ideas on which battery would be best for the fiver. I do not have room for more than 2 do I would use the 6V ones??? Thanks

Marine battery from 5er may not work well in tracter, deep cycle does not have same cranking amps capacity as conventional battery.

Unless you do a lot of dry camping, two premium 12 volt marine/deep cycle batteries should be fine ( I like Interstate, myself).

Some swear by the 6v set up. I don't buy it. I use 2 of the largest 12v deep cycle batteries that will fit. Read the labels for amps and amp hour rating. It is usually worth a few extra $ for more amps.
I've would have told you Delco batteries were best a few years ago but due to cost I stated using the Walmart brand. In the last ten years I have had very good luck with them.
Opinions will very.

Costco has a good 12 volt deep cycle and carries the 6 volt golf batteries in my area. I have costco batteries in all my stuff and they work great. Lots of people use the 6 volt golf batteries and are very happy including myself. Just be sure you get golf batteries not a 6 volt tractor starting battery.

Battery(s) are a strange thing. Depending how you camp you may need only one or you, like me may need a whole bank of them. If you only go to full hookup sites then a single 12 volt deep cycle from wally world is sufficient for all your needs and a lot cheaper to buy and maintain. If on the other hand you spend a large amount of time with no hookups then the more the merrier.

So far for the past 4yrs have not done much dry camping, do use the SP's but usually have water and elec., but like things are going now I expect I will need some good batteries as may have to do wally rv park to make ends meet.
I was planning to check out Sam's, do not have a Cosco near by, was hoping someone would give me a name brand. I have used interstate before. Just need 2-12V that will handle the Slide outs(3) and jacks when not connected. We have to extend our slide(1) when we stop for breaks in order to get to the fridge.. Thanks for the responses...

Interstate is a good battery but is not a battery manufacturer. For example US Battery makes both the Costco 6v and the Interstate 6v golf batteries. Costco is ~$75 and Interstate is ~$90 for the same battery different sticker lable. US Battery only lists one dealer in NC.

We have been fulltiming for over 3 years and have dry camped for as much as 5 days straight. Our unit has 2-6v bateries and by not going crazy with power we have not had any problems. I do check the batteries once a month and top off with distilled water as necessary.

As mentioned above, it depends on if you will be doing much dry camping. If not, then but the cheapest 12 volt battery you can find that will fit in the space. If you dry camp, then buy the deep cycle batteries that offer the greatest amount of amp hours. I am on year 5 with my Trojan T 105 batteries. Others use a pair of the 12 volt deep cycle batteries. You may want to check with a golf cart repair shop and price them there. Sams Club also sells deep cycle batteries. Many have had very good luck with them. Good luck.
