Does anybody have a true king pin weight (950 lbs. brochure) for this coach. Also, would appreciate advice on hitching up the Wildcat 27RL with my Tow Vehicle listed below:

P.S. Not sure about the 07's or 08's but my 2002 27RL carried a unloaded vehicle weight of 6800lbs. If course, I knew that wasnt correct.
When we traveled on week long trips, I weighed in between 8600 - 8900 lbs. That was loaded, without water in the tank. Never traveled with 50 gals of water cause my tank was in the very back. I personally didnt like that so always towed empty, and carried drinking water in the frig, and a few gals stored in the bathroom for toilet breaks.
Your short box is really short! Thats another issue that isnt the best situation for towing as Im sure you know.
If you have decided to stay within GVWR (which I suggest is a GOOD idea) You have 1480# of payload to play with.
Deduct the 12K Superglide leaves you 1130#.
Deduct the 950# DRY pin of the trailer leaves you 180# for additional cargo, passengers and weight on the trailer pin unless you leave it empty.
As a guide, 20% of what you put in the trailer will add to the pin. If you use ALL of that 180#, then you can load 900# into the trailer and you will be right on GVWR.
Problem is that dry pin weight PROBABLY does not include battery, propane tanks, awning or any other "extras".
I would say you will be over truck GVWR, maybe not by an awful lot but you will be over.
You have to decide if you are OK with that.

Flattop,
I am looking at the Pullrite 12,000# slider especially built for the 5'8" beds. This unit slides 22"+ and is supposed to allow 90 degree turns. I agree the short box will not handle as well as a longer box would.
I really do appreciate the input and advice everyone is offering. The dealer has offered for me to test drive if you will the unit, which is not a common thing so I have been told. I may have to consider other fifth wheel coaches that are lighter. I am just a little leary of the bonded or laminated floors and all the other stuff they cut out to get the weight down. The brochures like Rockwood, Coachman, and others say they have units for 1/2 ton pickups - and mine is a 1/2 ton on steroids - and is marginal (at best)!
Thanks again!
To the OP, I have a 27 foot 9600# GVWR Sunnybrook with a single slide. Loaded (9000# give or take a few) for travel I have just about 1800# on my pin. My pin ratio is right on the 20% discussed as a guideline.
My trailer is supposed to be "superlight aluminum construction"
I suspect you will find your real choice of trailers for a 1/2 ton is going to be limited.
I like the test-drive idea. Not many dealers will do that. Problem is you need the Pullrite capture plate on the fiver and they vary depending on the pin-box on the trailer.
That's going to be a little tricky!
(Pullrite is a great hitch BTW - I have the 16K/18K version in my truck)
Like noted, for travel, figure a pin weigh close to 1800#. I doubt if your 1/2 ton truck has enough payload capacity to carry the pin weight.
You need to think....smaller trailer ....or bigger truck.
When the brochure sated 1/2 ton towable, they mean a stripped and no passengers or cargo in the 1/2 ton truck.

I don't think you would have any problem actually pulling it since your truck has a 6 liter engine it's the weight that I would be concerned about. The camper has a dry weight of 7500 lbs once you get it loaded up we will be at about 8000 or more which would be a bit heavy. If your looking for a 5er to pull with your half ton then I would look at the Wildcat 24RL if your set on Wildcat that is. Otherwise look at the Rockwood series. We have a Rockwood 8244 that is 26 ft long that we pull with our half ton and it pulls very nice. Coachmen has a 5er with the same lay out that your looking at. Coachmen Chaparral 267RLS which is the one we would of gotten but, it's to long to pull a boat behind.
