How do I find a diagram of how to work on the release/pull handle to dump the black tank. I have not been able to empty the black tank. When I pull the handle it does not open and empty the tank. I dont know where to go to to try to fix the problem. Is there an online location I can go to to get a picture layout to know what part of the under side of the camper to remove to gain access or if I need to remove it.

I have posted several times on "cable actuated" dump valves. You may look at these posts. Cable actuated dump valve posts

Remove the panel directly below the pull handle under the basement. Once the panel is removed the valve and mechanism will be revealed.

They are not all the same but perhaps so on the Montana.
That is definitely NOT where mine is.

Greypops. There are many models and years of Montana's you do not mention what year/model you have. On my 06 3400 the black handle is inside the convenience center. I would have to drop the underbelly directly under that handle and re attach the handle that probably has come loose. You will no doubt have to do the same with your year/model. You should be able to see the handle by removing several of the screws on that side.

Do Montana owners have their own forums? You might ask there or contact the factory directly. The other option is indeed dropping at least a section of the underbelly to find out where the valve is. On my Bighorn, the valve is a few feet away from the handle. If you don't think the valve is operating properly, you really need to look at it while someone else is pulling the handle. It could just be a loose set screw. Or maybe the blade isn't closing completely so the water drains continuously. When you open the valve, you wouldn't see anything new coming out.

Richfaa speaks the truth. That is about the only way to check or fix the valve and Rich I know has been there done that.

What cindik said. The montanaowners website is really great.
You will probably get much feedback from people that have your same year and model unit.
