From Moab:
US-191 south to Bluff
US-163 southwest to Monument Valley (stay over and take tour)
continue
US-163 southeast to
US=160 southwest
to North Rim AZ-98 west to Page then US-89 or US-89A to AZ-67 south to GC
to South Rim stay on 160 to Tuba City then US-89 south to AZ-64 west to GC

Highway 50 from Pueblo is a great route. The Arkansas River canyon is a beautiful drive. The biggest pass is Monarch which is a pretty good pull but is wide enough and has plenty of passing lanes. Just gear down on the descent. Between Gunnison and Montrose you'll have a few twists and turns and a climb over Cerro Summit which is fairly mild. From Montrose to Grand Junction is about the straightest, easiest part of the drive.

Once you're on I70 it's an easy trip to Moab. You can either take Highway 191 to Moab, or turn off at Cisco and take Highway 128 through the Colorado River canyon. The first 20 minutes are a bit boring, but once you get into the canyon it's great.

Good luck!

Another variation that I prefer, is once you get to Montrose, drop south on Hwy 550 to Ridgway and go west out of there, Hwy 62, over Dallas Divide to Placerville, Norwood and on to La Sal Junction and north to Moab. I find this route more scenic than going to Junction and using I 70 west out of there.

Johnna route is a good one,my suggestion you will see more of the canyon on the South Rim more sights,Indian ruins,and pull-outs it is also 1000 ft.lower than the North Rim and the only HU camp grounds I know of on the north side are in Jacob Lake which is a 45 mile drive to the canyon and you have to return on the same road. Have fun

joe b's route is very scenic and different from most folks choice. I recommend it if you have lots of time.

As usual, johnna is right (think she had a typo though, should be 89 and not 98). South Rim has always been my recommendation for many reasons.

Be safe - enjoy each day.

No typo. I did mean AZ-98 between US-160 and US-89 at Page via Kaibito.
