I use both Google Earth and Google Maps online not only to look at campsites, but to screen fuel and food stops on my route (access and parking). Probably over planning, but I was a Boy Scout and I like to be prepared!

Try "local live". I dont know how it compares to google earth but I use it all the time to check out campgrounds. Nice clear picture.

I just tried it but I got a message that they didn't have maps down to that level.
