My eyes in the back waited until I hit something before yelling STOP! I banged in the bumper around the bottom screws of the ladder and tore a gash in the bumper further down.
I'm thinking that if I remove the screws I can pop it back in and then repair. I'm assuming the bumper is fiberglass. (I have a 2004 SeaBreeze). Am I off base and how much work to repair fiberglass?

thx

Fiberglass is an easy fix, get everything pulled back, while it's broken and then get a fiberglass repair kit and mix up cement and apply then overlay some mesh material,to the back, and let it set up. Fill any low spots in the front, with bondo, resand, spray primer, fill any small spots with finishing filler, resand and primer. Once you have it back to a smooth surface with no spots, then paint it with matching paint. If clear coated you may have to spray the entire area to make it the same, you will know when the repaired area is Clearcoated, as if it is shinnier than the rest, then do the entire area to match. Of course read the directions and wear saftey glasses and disposable gloves, and respirator, read the set up times for the cement, as that can be a problem if it sets up before you get it smoothed out. Trick is just use a little at a time. Good Luck!

whats with all the plastic bumpers there putting on rvs now they should be putting on a real bumper .mine is a thick aluminum bumper with steel backer and a thick rubber wrap around pad attached to it for small bumps.it would take a good bump to it just to put a mark on it with out doing any damage.

They are trying to cut down on weight, and improve on MPG, just like the cars do.

It shouldn't matter if you obey the primary rule:
Don't hit anything!

I had a 2004 Dolphin and I took it to the mountains. I was attempting to turn around, however I forgot about the handy backup camera and backed right into a pinetree. There was a 6 inch gash in the fiberglass bumper. I later asked Guaranty how much to fix it and was told about $1,000.
