I contacted a dealer that has a new 2008 F450 loaded for $63,000, with incentives rebates etc. he quoted $51,000 sale price. Not a bad discount but something tells me that these high end pick ups will go lower. Your thoughts?

Do you need this truck now, or are you willing to do more shopping and looking around. Remember, if buying this truck or any other from out of your area, your local FORD dealer may not be to happy to service this truck. OH it will be serviced, but you will be on the L O N G list when it is brought in. By shopping around you should get a good idea on prices for the F 450. Also remember that this is a limited issue production truck, not your typical F 150 run.
Good Luck.

You can probly get a much better deal on the F450 commercial chassic-cab truck than on the special F450 pickup since the chassis-cab is marketed to businesses for work purposes and the pickup is marketed to rich people with big expensive RV's to pull. No offense intended.

Typically, you can get an F450 or F550 chassis-cab for less than an F350 DRW pickup with equal options cause the commercial fleet sales dealers have better pricing than the regular retail pickup dealers. Either way, $51K sounds like alot of money in this bad market here lately. I would keep shopping.

Also, the Dodge 4500 trucks seem to have better pricing the Ford F450's. Chrysler seems more willing to deal than Ford on those trucks at the moment. That could change at any time.

I have a 2008 F450 Job 3 King Ranch that is pretty well loaded. When I hitched it up to my 40' Newmar Kountry Aire it got about 2" lower, and then I had some problems with the valve cores in my rear duallys that let quite a bit of air out, and it went lower still. Not quite riding on the rims, but more than low enough for me. The front was certainly high end.

You need to check the F450 out very good before you jump on one. the fuel mileage is horrible!!! I have the 4.30 gears and I am pulling a 40' Travel Supreme , 19,000 lbs , and driving very easy I get 8 mpg. That is at 55mph, it will get 14 - 15 on the hiway at 58 - 60 mph and around 10 in town. This is really being easy on it to get this. If I drive 65 - 67 not towing I get 11 - 12 mpg.
My plans are to trade it for a 09 Dodge 4500 in the very near future. I had a 05 F350 and got 10 mpg towing and 18 on the Hiway at 70 mph, I am really disappointed in the 08 6.4 Powerstroke.

We have been out shopping for a minivan/station wagon to haul the pups around and stopped by the local Ford dealer to look at a Taurus X. Nice car by the way. While there I was talking to the salesman, asking about the Employee pricing as advertised on the TV, "A" plan. Unfortunately for us, not available on the "X". "A" plan is available to the public on the F-series trucks, including the F-450. I think you can do better than the initial price your salesperson offered. I did better than that on the purchase of my 450 May of last year, before the fuel price spikes, using "X" plan pricing. Truck has turned out to be fantastic, everything I wanted in a truck. My advice, stick with the pickup version of the F-450, the cab/chassis models do not ride as well nor offer the options of the pickup, and once you upfit a cab/chassis for your needs, good chance it will cost more than the pickup. BTW, the F-450 is not a "limited production" truck, and it is very comfortable and esay to drive.

We have an 08 job 2 F-450 KR with everything! I wanted the 4.88 high capacity tow package for the ease of towing our Alfa toy house. I've had an oo f-350 & an o5 f-350 & hands down the 450 does the best job towing it & with some style & comfort. my worst mpg towing 8 mpg & best was 10 mpg the biggest diference is speed. If I drive at 55 mph I can avg 10 mpg w/trailer 12-13 mpg without. Towing an 18k lb trailer legally with my wife & kids on board & everyone elses family on the road is priceless. I firmly believe the truck, trailer & hitch should be within the manufactures specs & the law, it's a nice piece of mind.

I agree with "Capt Skup". Mine is a fully loaded King Ranch with the 4.88's. Not to beat the band here, but who buys these vehicles for the fuel mileage?? If worrying about a couple miles to the gallon is a huge concern, then don't buy the vehicle. I bought this truck to pull my camper, and pull it comfortably, period. Without stepping up to a medium duty truck, I don't think you will find a better tow vehicle. This is the best truck I have ever purchased and it does everything I want or need it to do, and it doesn't even break a sweat doing it(camper is 14K loaded). Good luck with your search. I hope you get what you want.

Heard the last day of the months is the best day to buy a new vehicle.

I've been thinking about buying one as well. I just figured I will always need the truck for the fiver so why not get one now when they are discounted. Talked to a dealer the other day and he could give me the price of 46k for the F450, job build #1 with the 4:88's. Sticker was 56. And this was without even arguing.

Even at 46 its pricey (at least for me) so I am waiting for you guys to talk me out of it!!
