I am curious to hear experienced RVers' thoughts about using a tarp or cover to keep your RV clean. We have a 1985 Holiday Rambler 24' 5th wheel. While there is a little fading, the exterior is in great shape. The previous owners kept an RV cover on for the last few years, and I haven't seen any signs anywhere of condensation or other problems. We are parking it in what is essentially a clearing in the woods. After scrubbing off the effects of Fall, Winter, and Spring we decided to check into it. We may buy a real cover for it later, but we found a tarp for $60 and have that on it now. In the first week, we can already see tree debris that would have been adhering to the camper.
Any thoughts from experienced folks out there would be appreciated! Thanks!!

It is good that you want to take care of your RV.
I would follow the Chief's advise.
The tarp is very abrasive also, High winds can cause a lot of rubbing, besides not being able to breath. I have seen a tarp last only one winter by the next it was in shreds.
Please use the search button this topic is done to death, and my fingers are sore from typing my opinion on the subject, lol!!! In the end we all need to do what we feel is best for us, mine stays covered.

Sorry I brought up an old topic, I will certainly check around first the next time.
Resale isn't in our minds with this camper. It is in excellent shape, (everything works) and it is perfect for us. We traded our 2002 Coleman popup even for it, and gas is less of an issue if you don't have a payment. We hope to get several more years out of it, and expert friends say it's possible to look good doing it. We certainly want to keep it covered and preserve its good condition. Thanks folks!!!
Thanks for making your post. I was happy to see it and as a new member we are glad to have you.
In the future do not hesitate on NOT using the search. It is good to here from you and it nice to have you make this post.
I am sure that NCHornet1 has seen this topic before but you need not to always do a search. If you had done a search I would not ever know that you were here as a forum member.
I had so much trouble with a cover that we just gave up on it. A strong wind took it into a corn field across the street. After that I had 300 ft. of rope around the top, bottom, around the waist, and tied to the bumper. The next strong wind took the entire cover off and left all the ropes in place. The only thing that held was the one tied to the bumper. My wife also had a problem when she would go up on the roof because it was a great sail. Some small sail boats don't have that much sail area. I just came back from putting my MH in the barn for a week before we go again. We let the holiday for the amateurs.

Thanks for the kind words, Britt. I really do like all the levels of experience and the welcome I feel here. We are just starting to branch out from our local state parks, and are looking forward to learning from the experts as we go! Thanks again!
Adding one more voice to what has been already said. You have to look at your area and weather to decide whether to cover. Where I am, no covers, sand and wind just act like sandpaper.

Welcome to the forums. There is a lot to learn here. I do suggest using the search function because there is a lot of info (and opinions) on every topic out there.
I also have no problem with someone asking the question again. For all we know something new is on the market that we don't know about. Or someone came up with an idea that nobody has thought about.
I bought a cover made for my first camper. I found it difficult to put on and take off. I now use a tarp. My parking spot at home is directly under a pine tree - yes, this is my only parking spot. Squirrels use the TT as a launching pad. I like having it protected from the pine needles, sap and animal poo.
We leave the part pretty lose so air can get under it. We also take the camper out just about every weekend so even if a little moisture gets under there it doesn't stay for long.
Do what works best for you and have fun enjoying your RV.
