In that case, your problem is lime. Also remove the aerators from the faucets and shower head and clean them out. Replace any screens as needed. You'll be getting little rocks in them from the lime deposits over time.

Thanks, I'll try the steel wool. Mine isn't soap scum. It is something a lot tougher to remove than that. Here in southern Calif we have really hard water. Because of that we have had soft water service to take care of the spotting in the shower and dishwasher. My dishwasher is fine but the shower is looking pretty bad.
If all the above fails, try a single edge razor blade. Some of the above is going to scratch the glass. Your door might be plastic and the harsh chemicals have caused permanent damage.
