At our last stop I was putting the slides out when my wife started getting loud. The topper on our long slide ripped about a foot as it was coming out. I figure that this will be ok for a while, right?

What does the canvas for a slide topper cost?

Check CW or local Rv store. I would guess $300.00 or so.

Probably not, once it rips it'll just keep going.

New unit ia about $450 so the guess of 300 is probably about right.

With ours the fabric is starting to rip on the front edge and the spring is about gone so I'll just replace the whole unit when it finally rips completely.

All depends on the size of it. Due to labor costs I wouldn't be surprised if it was cheaper to replace the whole thing. You need to get the specifics and start shopping.

I just put two toppers on and it cost me $270 to have the to of them made. I went to a canvas shop that does a lot of canvas for boats. I changed them myself.

You can buy Carefree replacement vinyl for a slide topper for $99 for sizes of 36" to 120" and $129 for 121" to 204" (plus $15 shipping).

It is the front one foot of the topper. I think that it started because I was not quite finished with putting out the other slide when I pushed the button for this one. My guess is that it didn't have quite enough pressure so it torqued a bit when it came out. In any case, fabric a year old shouldn't do that.

How hard was it to replace, nelson?

The vinyl idea is interesting. How would it match with the others?
