I know it's been asked and answered before, but I wouldn't know how to phrase the search, so please bear with me.
There is no power to the positive battery terminal on the hitch plug of my 2008 Silverado. I've read in some posts where you have to insert a fuse but on mine the fuse is already there. The manual says a wire has to be connected. It says take the truck to the dealer.
So, how do I find the wire and what do I do to connect it?

First, Are you really positive that there is a fuse in place? Many GM products have a dummy fuse installed and it needs to be pulled and a real fuse installed. Second, look around the under hood fuse box for a wire taped to the wire harness. It will probably have a terminal attached to to wire end. This is the one that they are talking about.

For mine, the wires were reversed from what those instructions say (even according to the manual) the wire for the brake is the one taped under the master cylinder and the 12 volts to the trailer was behind the fuse box. Since I have the IBC, I only needed the 12 volts and it connects to STUD 1 and the fuse is already in place... I have a recent post from the February timeframe outlining all of this...

If you have the IBC then Scots answer above is correct.

OK, here's a new wrinkle.
I checked out the truck last night to follow the intructions I received. I found that the two wires are attached to the two studs already. Both studs were hot.
Still there is not power to the plug at the back of the truck. I couldn't find any break in the wiring under the bed of the truck. I have the added wiring harness for the side bed plug. Neither plug has power to the battery terminal. The other pins work.
Any thoughts where to check next?

Just because something is in the fuse panel doesn't mean it's a fuse. My truck is older, but it came with a dummy fuse in the panel. It looked very much like a fuse, but was all plastic, and as such could not conduct electricity. Since yours is already connected, this may be the issue.

Just so we are on the same page:
The fuse controls the stud, correct? I.e., if there is power to the stud, the fuse is working? I put a test light on the stud and it lit.
The only other possibility I can think of is that the stud is on the "hot" side of the fuse, but then what would be the purpose of the fuse?

Do you have the IBC? That would account for the wire on the left side (stud 2) I would check to see that the appropriate wire was put on the other stud, if they put the other brake controller wire on the other stud and not the 12 volts, you get the picture right? It should have the fuse in place already making stud 1 HOT...
