Our pup (07 Fleetwood Westlake) has been sitting in our garage for the last 3 weeks since we bought it. We've anxiously been awaiting this past weekend. We pulled the camper out on Wednesday, opened it up and began preparations. All geared up, and Thursday we headed out. I've towed boats my whole life, so I was comfortable with the towing aspect. After a 4.5 hour drive, we arrived at our campsite. It's a big & busy resort (http://www.sunbanksresort.com/) but because of a buddy of mine, we got a 3 site area all to ourselves. We were pretty isolated, which was great. Pup went up, leveled, and awning out without a problem at all. Hooked up water, plumbing (thank He Ruide), and electrical also without issue. The water heater is the only thing that gave me troubles (but thanks to an iPhone and RVNet responses, we were up and running first thing the next morning, before we'd have ever needed hot water anyway).

We stayed from Thursday evening to Sunday night. We weren't without anything, and didn't bring anything extra to the best of our knowledge. We'll pack stuff in smallish tubs next time to make breakdown of camp easier, and packing of the pup smoother. These things have far more storage room than I had assumed.

Some pics of the trip.....

And this one to give an idea of the terrain. The lake is 30+ miles long, and all desert cliffs around it.

Hey neighbor, absolutely fantastic. Is there any better way to spend time with your family than this?

I'm telling you what..... my folks took my sister and I around the country in a motorhome during my summer before 2nd grade. It was almost two months of RV'ing, and while I can imagine my folks dealt with their fair share of stresses, it was one of my most vivid childhood memories. I can only hope that these trips will be similar for our girls.

I got a little emotional when I viewed your great pics and saw your rig! Reminded me of the good times we had when we moved up from a tent to our very first RV, a Jayco Tent trailer. And when the kids were born, they traveled with us every time, basically learned how to take their first steps while camping! With a steady succession of wonderful dogs, from a terrier mutt "Queenie" to a sheltie "Sylvester", a Golden Retriever KC to our current sheltie "Walley"! Now the kids are teens (19 and 17) and still like going with us in our Jayco 5th wheel. Great times with the family (your girls are cuties by the way!) and a wonderful rig like yours. Congratulations, have fun and enjoy...because they grow up way too fast! Have a bunch of safe, fun family memories in your RVing adventures!

Heading back out again this Thursday, if all goes well. This trip we're planning on staying in Western Washington, so there may be some adverse weather (though it's been in the 80s and 90s for the last few days). This time we're going to Lake Tyee (http://laketyee.com/).

As for the picture compliments...... thank you. You'll notice all the pictures that have an extra something special to them are taken of a vehicle, or from one. I used to write tech articles for a truck magazine, and got used to taking shots of vehicles that captured something interesting, or had unique lighting.

The shadow ones were cool-- but a little freaky. When a gentle hill rolled by, the shadow looked like it was racing towards us and was going to crash into us. Seeing that out of the corner of your eye is a little startling. Also let it be noted that my wife was snapping those while I drove..... all I did was suggest snapping a few.
