We often have our son and his family (4) plus the two of us. When we pack food for the 4-5 day outing our current 8 cu. ft. Dometic just doesn't have enough space. We are considering a new TT purchase and would love to have a 12 cu. ft. 4-door refrigerator but do not know if any TT manufacturer offers one as an option (have seen them as an option in many fivers). A second choice would be the option of two 8 or 10 cu. ft. refrigerators in a TT.

Anyone have any insight on this subject?

Thanks in advance.

I have seen a few "patio models" with 12 cf refridgerators that run on A/C only. Same fridge as in a small apt. I suppose if you didn't travel far you could chill while parked at home, and the contents would remain cold for quite some time while driving to your destination.

We have the 2- 12 cu.ft. refrigerators, 1 with an icemaker. We love it, one reason if 1 goes out we still have another complete refrigerator. We stay in places for a while, so I carry a small refrigerator, and freezer with us to put outside. The only way to go, and fewer trips to the grocery store.

We boondock for 5-7 days at a time and often feed 5-7 people. Our two-door Dometic does get quite full but we carry two-large Extended-Use, 5-day coolers with us and use Blue-Ice and freeze water bottles.
We have to replace ice once during the week but that's just because we like ice in a cup with our sodas. The Blue-Ice will keep our food at a safe temperature for the entire week as long as we keep the coolers under the RV and out of the sun.

When we looked, there were TT's (Wildwood and Salem, I believe) that had an option for an outdoor fridge in addition to the one indside with their garage option. You may want to check those out.

On Edit: I just looked and sorry, I don't think they offer it anymore.

Do you guys use coolers? I can't say I've seen any in TT's and do like to shop them for fun pretty often.

We often take off for 45 days from home and while it's just the two of use our 7cu ft refer doesn't have the freezer space so I bought the Norcold MRFT40 refer/freezer to augment our freezer space and it has 1.5cu ft capacity. It's not cheap but has worked well for us and only uses like 2.5 Amps when on DC and we almost always have electric when traveling.

Also, what you could do is take a couple of large ice chests and pack things like drinks, condiments, veggies in one and another with a couple of days worth of frozen food with tons of ice and use the ice chest with the frozen food first and then transfer ice from the frozen ice chest to the other one. The veggies like lettuce, etc. can be on the top since it doesn't need to be that cold and even things like fruits and veggies like tomatoes if fresh don't really need refrigeration for 3 or 4 days unless they are out it really hot areas. Also, if you're a big pop drinking family use ice from one of the ice chest to cool the pop and not try and keep the can cold all the time.

Many RV's have the option of ordering them with a opening for a standard houe fridge. If not the cabinets can me modified to fit one in there, or a larger fridge. Having a cabinetmaker like me in the family helps though.
