Are you pulling the right 2 amp fuse? I have a 2006 and I have 0 miles added while towing.

I pull the correct fuse. 2 amp #8, I have dropped a couple down in the console area, so I have a fuse switch on order. I will pull all the fuses if it will help. Still waiting to hear back from my dealer.

Fuse should not make a difference. Re check owners manual and make sure ignition key is in the correct position. Good luck waiting for the dealer response.

KJet - Sorry to hear your dealer is as mis-informed as mine. The HHR is fully 4-down towable and does not rack up mileage. I have about 5,000 towed miles on mine and none registered. FYI - my dealer was so HHR ignorant that I have moved to a different dealer for service. The HHR is a great toad!

We have an 06' HHR and have towed over 15,000 miles - no problem with mileage adding on while towing.

If your HHR is a 2006, you will find reference to 'Dinghy Towing' on Page 4-38. That page also references Page 5-38 for which fuse to pull.
When I pulled of the cover to the fuse panel, the fuse diagram is upside down compared to the actual location of the fuses in the fuse block.

I had my tech install a switch in the compartment on top of the dash. The switch cuts power to the panel. No dead battery, no miles. We also installed extra light bulbs in the tail light housing so we did not tap into the factory wiring. My shop has done several of these for my customers. Last week I had them install a M&G brake system,,,,,sweeet.......

NO mileage adds up on mine, are you sure that you are not turning the key to far. There should be no lights on the instrument cluster.

I did install a switch, so no more pulling the fuse. I have also done the extra bulbs in the tail light housing, seems to work ok. Did not want to cut into factory wiring. I am sure the key is in the right position, so next trip I will be double checking everything. This is an 08 HHR Panel, should not make a difference. Thanks for the input. It is hot in Hood River, Or.
