My wife and I are thinking of buying our first motorhome, it is a 30 foot Georgie Boy Velocity. We have 2 Rat terriers, Mother(12) and son (10). Neither are crate trained but want to include them in our times away. Any good suggestions on protecting interior; How they should ride other than crates;and they will need some kind of containment outside because the mother rat terrier would take off to explore.

I am looking at purchasing a 2002 georgie boy velocity with a v10 engine. Anyone owning past or present please give me pros and cons of this motorhome.

I don't know the lay out of the coach you are buying, but we are able to close off the bedroom/bathroom area from the living area with the door. We can keep our cats back there if we want to let them loose. Otherwise 2 of the 3 ride in containers whether they like it or not.

If you are going to have leather/synthetic leather furniture, you may want to keep their claws clipped or the furniture covered.

We travel with two Jack Russell's and two Birman's (cats). They are free to roam about the coach when traveling, but they usually hunker down in the bedroom. Our older JRT (mom) likes to sit up front to get the view, the younger one (daughter) seeks out the crate. The cats never move from the bed when the coach is in motion.

At the CG, we take them on a lot of walks, otherwise, they just mosey about doing animal things. The key thing is to not let your animals bother other folks with barking and doing their business without picking it up. If you just follow common sense rules, everyone will be happy, including your pets.

When we travel, Katie wears a harness and it is attached to a leash which is looped around the base of the co-pilot chair. She then sleeps on a pillow style dog bed quite comfortably, can move around but is safe from being thrown around in case of a sudden stop. If your dogs sleep together okay, you could fasten both of them that way and they could share a bed.

We have traveled with dogs for 5 years now. They stay on the floor by the dog house - no pun intended while we are on the road.
There are 3 of them now and they all love the Motor Home.

You ought to see us travel....

4 bulldogs.

1. Summer at my wife's feet or she comes over and sits and wants me to pet her as I drive......Rests her jowels on the seat.

2. Sierra the youngest--on my wife's lap resting her jowels on her shoulder..

3. Demi (the oldest) on a pillow my the couch.

4. Sully the boy stands in the middle between us and watches the monitor as he likes to watch TV and loves the white lines going by.

When their mother has had enough--she goes over to the couch and then everyone gets up on the couch....

It is an adventure and the bullies LOVE the thing...when they see us packing they go berserk with excitement.

We have two small dogs that do not shed. One is a Toy Poodle and he stays in his basket while we are driving. The second is a Coton De Tulear and she has to be seating right on the side of the passenger seat. She has to be looking out all the time, while the Poodle loves to sleep. But if they wanted to roam up and down the coach, they are allowed to do it. No problems, very good dogs.

Our two cats travel very well. The older male sleeps in his basket or on the floor. The young female will stay by the male on the floor or in a "fuzzy cube". The older one has been all over the country.

We have an 11 year old Rat Terrier, Snoopy. He likes to know here he is going, so spends a lot of time on the driver's or copilot's lap. When he tires of this he sits or sleeps on the couch. I think he believes it his motorhome and we drive it for him. We take him on a lot of walks, but hardly ever tie him up outside. He sits with us outside with a leash attached.
