We recently upgraded to a 5er and have let the girls decide where they wanted to go for a few days this month. They are 13 and 16 now so they want to visit Denver's 16th St. Mall, Elitch Gardens, Denver Mint etc. We are wanting a nice campground in or around Denver maybe even with a pool. So I thought I would ask the experts to give us some advise. Thank you in advance.

Cherry creek state park is a nice park very close in to the city. No pool, but a large lake. Very close to a park & ride station if you want to take the train system downtown.

Well, here's a link to campgrounds in the Denver area:
Colorado Campgrounds
You might have to scroll down to the D section to find Denver, but I found several campgrounds with pools (I know kids may not be to keen on lake swimming.)

One, down in Castle Rock, isn't that far from the DRT station so you could ride the light rail line to downtown and Elitch's.

You might take a look at RV Park Reviews - Denver. There are several campgrounds listed and reviewed. Have a safe and fun trip.

Momma Tina,

I lived in the Castle Rock campground from April thru August last year. It's a relatively quiet CG high up in elevation (7700'). Nice people that run it. They have a pool (open during the summer). On weekends they do campfires and marshmallow roasts and have other activities, too. The outlets at Castlerock is just a little north, and it's a 20 minute ride into south Denver.

Cherry Creek reservoir is nice, but it fills up on the summer weekends well in advance. It is right in town and very close to the light rail. When we were living in Castle Rock CG, we'd drive up to Denver and park at the Lincoln Av light rail and use the train to downtown.

If you want more Denver info, let me know - I worked and lived in the Denver metro prior to moving to the south (I'm also an Albuqerque native, so I understand the southwest, too!)

Dakota Ridge RV park in Golden Colorado has what you are looking for. They have a swimming pool and is very nice, 15 minutes to downtown denver and about 5 minutes to downtown Golden, alot of things to do in both places
