I know that it will be our one and only trip to that area. We will be staying a couple of nights there and in Bar Harbor, ME on campsites that look directly out onto the water. They are expensive but to me worth the experience. I would not do it all the time and most of our sites for the trip will be $30 a night.

I agree. I play a little game with our regular trips to see how little money we can spend and still have fun. I shop for low campsite prices, bring wood, buy generic brands, limit impulse buying, say no to video games, etc. But for those special trips, I'm quite willing to pay the price for the experience we want. If I had to pay $100 a night for the place/site I wanted, I do it in a heartbeat. I just wouldn't do it every week. For the record, we just spent about $65 a night in Massachusetts and we enjoyed ourselves so darn much, we considered it a bargain.
This weekend, it's $35 a night and I'm looking forward to that too.
I travel extensively for work, on a plane on Monday, land, get rental car, check into hotel, look for a decent place to eat. Most of my trips average about 1500 a week. When I am off, I don't want to see an airport, a rental car agency, the inside of a hotel room, or look for a decent place to eat. I also would not pay 100 a night for a spot in a "Resort", just not my thing. When I go a County, State, or National park is good enough for me.
This last weekend we paid $38.00 per nigh for power and water, no sewer.
We were able to drive that ATVs directly from our camp site to the trails with no need to haul them in and out of camp on trailers. That was so worth the high price.
Their showers and bathrooms were clean. Their shower is larger than my shower and we had 7 adults.

We always stay at our favorite campground in our favorite Provincial Park - The Whiteshell. We get the basic site (have our generator) because they are on the lake and beautifully treed. But as with everything, our fees have gone up as well this year. We're now paying $14 a nite, instead of $12 a nite.
I know that the Jellystone is Hagerstown MD would cost my family almost $100 a night. We have stayed there before they opened the waterslides and it was no where near that expensive. Since they added the slides they charge a few for everyone in your family even if you do not use the slides.
We will stay somewhere else before we pay those prices.
I've never heard of campgrounds that expensive. I thought 31.00 was a lot at Branson. Where we stayed last week they said they were going up due to electricity costs. I was hot, and imagine the a/c were pulling a lot of juice. I know the cost for the week was a little over 150.00. I'm sure there costs are also going up especially with less campers. This camp ground is on I40, and they said the nightly campers was way down.

I hear ya. The Jellystone in Luray was wanting $78 per night for the 3 of us. I don't use the water slides or anything else for that matter but I would like my son to enjoy them. They charge each person a per day fee whether you use it or not. That is just ridiculous. We ended up staying at Country Waye down the road which, to my my disappointment, has also gone up in price. It was $53 per night. I seem to recall it was below around $40 just 4 years ago.
