We have stayed three times at Pohick Bay. It's a great place to use as a base for exploring Wash., DC. Once we just spent a couple nights just relaxing, the sites are wooded so there's not a lot of noise. Call ahead for reservations. Send a PM for getting to DC by Metro.

We have stayed at both. We like Pohick as a base in the DC area. Very much like a state park.
Darien Lakes state park is not much of a park IMO. Of course it is a nice jump off place for the amusement park, (close by) and within reasonable distance to Niagara Falls, Rochester and Buffalo. It would not be my first choice for visiting Niagara Falls. Take a look at Four Mile Creek State Park is located on the shore of Lake Ontario. I think that it is much nicer and close for a base Niagara Falls.
Darian Lakes is about 50 miles from Niagara Falls. It's just a place to stay if you are going to Darian Lakes amusement park, the biggest park in NY. After that there is nothng else to see or do in the immediate vicintiy.
Are you looking for full hookups or a State park?

If it's listed in the Yellow Pages, the government shouldn't be messing around with it.
