If the deer really liked your music they would have tipped you a couple of bucks.

I, too, was wondering where the campground is....I'm daydreaming that I'm there right now!

Are you going to tell us where your campsite is? It looks a bit like the meadow at Calaveras Big Trees.

I was thinking the same thing!

A week ago I was camped in a neat little campground alongside a beautiful meadow (see pic). After dinner I was sitting outside plunking on my mandolin. After a few songs I looked up and there were 3 deer about 75 yards away in the meadow looking at me. Their ears were pointed at me. For at least 10 minutes they hardly moved, always looking at me and never eating the grass. One did start to come my way, but turned back after a few yards. All at once they all "bounced" away at the same time. I say "bounced" because it looked like they were on pogo sticks.

It was a very moving experience. A tear came to my eye as they left. I'm assuming that since they stayed so long they enjoyed my music. I think I'll have to come up with an original composition called "Deer in the Meadow".

Maybe they were dancing to the music...Should have offered them a brew...

Ralph has not said the location, but I found it on his blog. Since the blog is openly available, I'm not violating any secrecy.

"Swanson Meadow CG (USFS) about 3 mi E of Shaver Lake, CA on Dinkey Creek Rd. 5600 ft."

Thanks, Ralph! That one is going on my list.

Memorial Day weekend, walking the dog at 5 a.m. (cause she gotta go) and she starts growling at the trees. Out steps an Elk about 6 feet away just grazing. Dragged that growling dog right back into the RV. They are BIG
