Talk about horsepower and torque, and with a real factory warranty.

Could be just the ticket for an alternative to the diesel engine in Toyotas "maybe" upcoming 3/4 ton trucks.

Wonder how many gallons per mile you get with the supercharger? ;-(

according to the guy on tundrasolutions its about $7k installed! Who cares about the fuel mileage, at that price i could have opted for a diesel in a 3/4 ton truck.

Everyone else has kits, why not Toyota? If a guy wants to mod his truck, then there ya go. Honestly though, the 5.7 is already strong enough to power a 3/4 ton pickup. IMHO Toyota could just beef up the suspension, go live axle up front and one has a decent gasser hd truck.
Mileage probably isn't really that bad if driven normally, my very good friend has a 07 Shelby that is returning well over 20 mpg in normal highway driving and it is rated at 500hp, I bet the toy would do similar in the right environment.

If you can resist and keep your foot out of it, the supercharger equipped truck will probably return the same mileage as the nonaspirated engine. And best of all, the setup is warranted by Toyota, unlike the programmers/chips owners add themselves.

Expensive, not really when compared to the extra cost of a diesel with those torque numbers.
As for mileage, if you keep your foot out of it you may see an increase. One of my racing friends put a Vortech supercharger on his Mustang and his mileage increased by 2 mpg...if he kept his foot out of it. It's able to increase mpg by increasing the volumetric efficiency of the engine. Of course this isn't a mod just to increase mileage. It's for fun and towing.

a supercharger is a parasitic accessory. How can it possibly increase mileage? Power, yes...mileage? Increasing VE is of no value if the vehicle is lean. At a 20 HP output hiway empty cruise, a supercharger is like an AC compressor you can't shut off.

I'd think the computer would quickly adjust to keep the engine at the proper air/fuel ratio.
Quoted from Superchargersonline.com "Will a supercharger affect my fuel economy?
Answer: Fuel economy depends entirely on your driving habits and in some cases you may experience an increase in gas mileage. Under normal freeway driving, for example, the supercharger is not under boost but is increasing the efficiency of the engine by forcing air through restrictions like the air filter. But let's face it, you are not interested in a supercharger to enjoy "normal driving conditions." When you are demanding additional performance from your vehicle it will require additional fuel. If you are a "lead foot" your fuel economy will decline because your car is working harder. If you are simply using the supercharger for occasional acceleration and passing performance, then your fuel economy should remain about the same. Remember that the only way to make more horsepower is to burn more fuel per unit of time, and that's exactly what a supercharger is designed to do."
