We have 15K in the lounge and 13K in the bedroom, seems to work very well. As for freezing you out, as previously stated that's what the thermostat is for.

Can they duct the 2nd unit using the existing vents. Seems that dumping all that cold air right on top of the bed could be uncomfortable.

We opted for a portable 9k btu for the bedroom. It's only needed in the middle of 90 degree day in full sun, so I didn't want to go to the expense & weight of another roof mount.

We have 35L4QB. I put the 13.5 Penguin in the BR with the remote control. The remote IS the thermostat, no need to run wires for a thermostat. It is easy to install if it is already wired for 2nd air.
Feel free to PM me for any other info needed

35l4qb and yes had it put in at the factory. From what i was told if the unit was prepped for it, the wires are run up to the vent houseing and once the housing is removed there they are. I just figured, let them do it.
